Re: goodbye harvey dent.
well, the only comic book characters that ever stay dead are Uncle Ben from Spider-man, and Bucky from Captain America. a character dying never means much. they always come back some way or another.
Maybe in Nolan's take on the universe. but you still can't keep too certain...

Villains don't die, what a shame. Hopefully someone else will bring him back once Nolan's contract runs out.

You'd want em to make another one without Nolan? Fuck that.
And it's the best thing for Batman, as far as I'm concerned. Two Face was a cool villian but it would have been such a shitty move brining him back when it was fairly obvious that he was stone cold dead at the end of the last one. It would be like, "Oh shit! Heath Ledger's dead! Quick, reanimate Two face so we can have some sort of story continuity for the third one."

Re: goodbye harvey dent.
I think Nolan has paved a new way to showcase superheroes. Anyone who comes after him now knows the kind of grit and development the characters and plotlines need to be directed in.
But anything's possible. The thing about Batman is that his fight against crime is neverending and his strongest enemies survived everything he did. I'd definately consider Harvey Dent to be one of Batman's biggest foes, mainly because you never knew if he was really dead since his crime network was so secretive. It wouldn't be completely absurd if another director wanted to re-introduce him.

Nolan isn't a comic-book nerd, and therefore, he isn't an idiot.
Anyone with half a brain would appreciate how well TDK covered and concluded Two-Face's story, and anyone thinking he would be better off alive and flipping his coin is a fucking idiot.

I didn't think that the dark knight fully showcased two face as a villain, but I wouldn't have changed the story at all because Harvey's fall from grace was superbly done. I also strongly, agree that bringing two face back would destroy another franchise, but as you said the man's no idiot.
I personally believe that once Nolan finishes his take on the Batman Universe there won't be room for anyone to take over, providing the next instalment follows the trend that is. As for the next villain, I think Mr freeze would be a terrible idea, and the way it's going I wouldn't be surprised if the rumours about the Riddler came true. Especially if Johnny Depp was offered the role.

Re: goodbye harvey dent.
I bet it's because the CGI for his face was expensive
It's annoying/hilarious that the actor for Joker died AND the character of Two-Face died, hindering the chances of either of them coming back. I say hindering because there's always some chance that they'll recast the Joker or bring back Harvey. I doubt Nolan doing either of those things though.
Also, how cool and baffling would it be if Heather's death was a huge publicity stunt.
