Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Wasilla, Alaska
Default Palin's attacks on free speech

It has been well-documented that as mayor of Wasilla ("meth capital of Alaska," according to SNL), she tried to institute censorship at the local library and tried to fire the popular librarian who stood up to her. (This resulted in an abortive recall effort.) One book in particular she tried to ban was entitled "Daddys Roommate," a book for children advocating compassion and acceptance towards gays. (NOT advocating being gay, BTW.) When asked if she had actually read the book, SP replied "No, I don't have to."

More recently, Sarah the Lipstickpitbull sicced one of her lackeys on a local blogger, who ORDERED the blogger to cease and desist. That is, Ivy Frye (asst to the gov) phoned Sherry Whitstine--one of many local bloggers trying to expose the reality behind Sarah's charismatic image--and said "You should be ashamed. Stop blogging. Stop blogging now."

Hey Arms, have you seen the film "I Heart Huckabees"? It's an existentialist half-comedy. Judging from your latest sig it sounds like you might enjoy it.

Awesome. I hate Palin as much as anyone else. I'd love to see reputable sources that confirm the following:

Thanks a ton. I look forward to showing these sources to my Republican friends.

In the book banning process, any person who has a request MUST have read the book. Shortcut? Fire the people in charge of such processes. Looks like she just fired everyone in the town that didn't step in line with her.

I was wondering when someone was going to get around to actually naming the books she tried to have banned. Thanks.

I was really intrigued by this, so I decided to look it up.

Result: http://syrin.vox.com

Fucking lol, man. Read that site, it's hilarious. This is the kind of person who should be told to shut the fuck up, and repeatedly.

This twit is a Republican who actually believes Palin is the most corrupt governor Alaska has ever had (clearly ignoring the predecessory), whose method of keeping people informed involves promoting parody songs (yeah, these are entertaining, but what the fuck?), and hosts groups where the topics of conversation include what a great president Bush is, what a great author Anne Coulter is, how killing children is a perfectly acceptable strategy for fighting terrorists and how liberals are traitors should be kept out of office.

That's just scratching the surface.

Yeah, the dumb bitch has every right to the same freedom of speech we all do, and that Palin assistant was stepping stupidly over a boundary by pointing out that she should stop blogging. This is, of course, assuming that the assistant in question was actually attempting to do this in her official capacity, rather than exercising her own freedom of speech in telling the dumbass to shut the fuck up. Given the source, I doubt we'll get an honest answer.

Why would someone running for VP want to have certain books banned? That's just flat out crazy, violates the first amendment and completely wipes McCain/Palin off my politcal radar of concern. I'd vote for anyone but those two fuckwits. I think a brown paper bag full of shit could run this country better.

^Okay, here's the deal. When Sarah ran for mayor, she ignored real local issues in favor of hot-button, knee-jerk stuff like opposing women's right to choice, and sucked up to the local fundies. She appointed a local pastor with zero qualifications to some local board.

Earlier this year, she gave a speech to some local fundies spouting a bunch of nonsense about how God wants us to have a war in Iraq. When she was questioned about this on the ABC news interview, she took back what she said.

Thsi raises the question, was she lying then, or lying now? It has to be one or the other.

In any case, she is a liar.

Palin is a religious right cunt.

We do not need another person leading the western world who believes God beams orders directly into their brain.
