Best way to get medication for ADD?
Physician or psychologist? Considering that neither will cost me a dime (yay for living in Canada). And how much time would I need or how difficult would it be for actually getting a prescription if I have never met any of them before?

Re: Best way to get medication for ADD?
Though it would take longer, your case would seem more believable if you went to your physician first.
Feign ignorance!

Re: Best way to get medication for ADD?
I live in America.
However, I went to a psychologist to get tested (came up positive), he wrote a recommendation (formal) to which I could give to my doctor (If I so chose to) and he gave me the prescription to get filled at the pharmacy.

Re: Best way to get medication for ADD?
psychologists cant prescribe medication...in america at least.
IME physicians normally recommend you to a psychiatrist, who will prescribe you what he feels is best.
IMO, the best way to get medication for ADD is to have ADD.
if your doing this to get drugs so you can abuse them, i suggest you go for opiates or benzos, as, well, IMO, at least, theyre better drugs.

If you've been tested and have proof of it, you should just be able to go to your doctor...
This is actually really easy...Just schedule a doctors appointment and ask what you need to do, he'll be more than happy to fill you in on such matters...

Go to GP, feign symptoms, get referral, go to psychiatrist, express concerns, take "test", get pills.

Re: Best way to get medication for ADD?
Getting ADD medicine is really easy in my situation. The psychiatrist I go to makes me fill out a little survey with ~20 questions like this:
How well are you able to focus with background noise? 1-5 1 being great 5 being horrible.
If the number is bigger than some threshold, she gives me medicine. If you don't get the medicine you want the first time, you can go back for a check up visit, in which she gives you the same survey while on the meds.
Also for reference:
Psychiatrists = prescribes meds
Psychologists = can't prescribe meds

Re: Best way to get medication for ADD?
Jesus Christ. You kids and your ADD threads.
The test is extremely easy to fake if you want the meds for some other reason.
If you ask me that has got to be the most retarded way to diagnose a mental "illness".
