| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Great PC Games?
They're hard to come across these days. My computer is capable of running Mass Effect smoothly so you can suggest pretty much anything. But does anyone know of any games that won't disappoint me as much as Spore did?

Re: Great PC Games?
The Fallout series. It's quite old now but few games are as enjoyable as these were/are. Fallout 1 and 2 that is. Tactics was alright and you may dig it as well but I wasn't a huge fan of that one. You can probably find them for download with ease but if you look hard enough at some game shops that carry older PC games you could likely find a bundle of 1 and two for around 10 bucks.
Other than that i'd need to know what type of games you're in to.
Got any genre preferences?

Re: Great PC Games?
I really loved Devil May Cry 3 on the PC.
You absolutely need a controller for it to work though, and it doesn't support 360 controllers by default.

I'm more into Sims, RTS's and 3d person shooters.

Re: Great PC Games?
The Battlefield series is good if you play online.
The Sims series as well the SimWhatever Series
The Black & White Series was fun to me..though it didn't hold my attention for a long time.
For RTS:
Age of Mythology
The Civilization Series
Medieval Total War
Rome Total War
Rise of Nations
The Command and Conquer Series
If you're really in to RTS's you'll find no better platform than the PC.

Re: Great PC Games?
Why play with your PC when you could be playing with your mom's dildo?
Seriously though, PC games nowadays seem to be pure and utter shit. In then 90s the PC games kicked ass as they offered both graphics and gameplay that was unseen in console games. RTS, first person shooters, sims, point & click adventure, etc.
Nowadays it's just more of the same, and 90% of it comes from shitty dickless whores like EA. I recently downloaded C&C 3. It was amazing that EA managed to piss me off even after pirating their shitty game. Pretty much everything about it sucks. C&C died for me along with Westwood. Call me nostalgic and jaded, but I just can't stomach all these re-runs and stolen crap from the last decade.
The PC needs another revolutionizing piece of hardware that will change games. Change them in a fashion so that new genres can be born. Until then, it's just going to be more of the same shitty endless re-runs.
Another problem with PC games is its retarded fanbase. PC gamers are generally morons. They somehow think playing first person shooter games will give them superhuman reflexes and whatnot. And because they "made" their own PC, they have this vision that they're masters of ICT. Meanwhile all the great and creative PC games go unnoticed and the companies that make them either die off or start making mindless crap. PC gamers also believe they are "hardcore" gamers. I wonder why that is? Is it because they play counter-strike for 12 hours on end and have no friends? Is it because they've assembled their own PC and cut some retarded holes into their PC case? Or is it their strong moronic opinion that is against every other gaming platform except for the PC?
I don't know, but I'm sure there is a connection between that and the poor quality of PC games nowadays.

Oh, and insulting people by generalising all PC gamers just shows that you're an asshole.
