I just glanced over my shoulder and saw this thing on the news about ppl chugging some vanilla extract (i think mccormick) and getting drunk off the alcohol in it. They didn't really give any details or say what/how much of whatever is in it. This one store is stopping selling it for now, but its the only store in the state that is doing that.

Anyone tried this or have any experiences theyd like to share?

nope...most extracts are stored in alcohol. The highest alcohol content ones are mint and almond though. But those are even worse tasting than the vanilla.
If you wanna get drunk and don't have any money and a large bottle of extraxt laying around, and don't mind the taste...there you go.

It does contain alcohol.
Vanilla extract is really disgusting.
It isn't even close to worth it.

I used to work in a grocery store and this one old lady would come in about 3 times a weak and buy a bottle of vanilla extract and a coke. yuck

it isn't isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. It is pretty much pure ethanol(vodka).

Of course alcohol isn't good for you, but that doesn't stop most of the world.

Try putting the smallest drop on your tongue and see what it's like.

I imagine it would be impossible to keep down, if you can even bring yourself to swallow it. Probably give you awful stomach pains too.

If you're asking this because you've got nothing else and looking for something to entertain you...it really isn't worth it. Go ahead and get yourself a taste. The bottles are commonly very small as well and you aren't going to get much more than a slight buzz that is different from a liquor buzz in a bad way.
