Diabetic single use syringes
Alright, here's the deal. I've only got one left . I know they're one time use, but I've got a junkie friend who uses the same one time use over and over. If it clogs or jams up, he just runs a lighter under the needle and it unclogs right away. Now, I'm no junkie whatsoever, and I know how to keep the rigs clean even from myself (repetitive use from your own needle even clean can give you hep C I know...that's why I've already bleached the rig clean)...I don't even plan on doing any H for another couple weeks after tonight, but just to be clear, can these single use rigs be used more than once? And I mean several times, not just twice or whatever but for 5-10 shots or more? Or is there really a mechanism on them that will just simply make them fail after a few shots?

Re: Diabetic single use syringes
They just get blunt and tend to cause more damage.
Also i remember someone on here saying the needle of a clogged one shot across the room when they tried unclogging it, could do some damage if it was in your arm.

Obviously you don't put a clogged needle in your arm...you unclog it before you stick it in obviously. And all needles will go dull after some use . But yeah, I've had to unclog a needle before using them.

Re: Diabetic single use syringes
I'm a diabetic and get boxes of these every couple of months. I never use a needle only once. Sometimes I use the same rig for 3-5 days straight..of course i'm not injecting insulin in to my vein.
It's possible to use a needle quite a bit more than once if you aren't a pussy. The needle will become more dulled and therefore more difficult to get through the skin without more pressure. Just make sure you don't use shared needles.

I've shared a needle twice, and it still haunts me as to what I might have(I'm freaked out to go get tested, although I know it's in my extreme best interest that I do). Sad but true, and I don't fuck around with sharing anymore. And I've used a dull rig several times, I don't even really notice a difference.

My needles go straight into my stomach. After around day 3 if you don't just jab it in you do feel a difference. It also makes it more likely that a red spot will appear at the injection site..which won't be good if using them for banging illicit substances either.
Inside the insulin syringe box it comes with a little piece of paper that shows the difference in the needles (using a microscope) after using it more than once. There is a really drastic difference in the tip of the needle. After one use tiny shards of the needle stick outward and make it look really gnarly.

Ahhh...so that's the mechanism that is supposed to prevent you from multiple use. Can the metal come out and into whatever is being injected?

As in can the tiny pieces of metal end up in something like my bottle of insulin?
I'm sure it can happen but if it does I haven't ever noticed. I have had a needle break off under my skin though...it came out slowly after squeezing around the area for a moment. I wouldn't worry too much about losing pieces of it in your product..but it really is interesting to see how drastic the effects are after a single use. If I could find the paper I'd scan it and post it but I haven't the slightest idea where one is.

Oh my god. That is the worse thought that's entered my head in a long time. If a needle were to break off in my vein I would flip the fuck out...before I inevitably died . Holy fuck I could have lived without hearing that .

Re: Diabetic single use syringes
speaking as another diabetic i often go through a weeks worth of injections (6 a day) with the same needle. Also that thing in the packs where the have pics of a fucked up needle, you would need to be injecting a piece of wood to get that effect. I remember looking at a week old needle under a microscope in biology class once as part of a presentation i did, it looked no different to one that had performed one injection and both of them were bright and smooth from tip to tail. so long as you keep the thing clean and clog free you can keep using it until it hurts too much to push in.

I've never had trouble with it clogging either. I have however had a rig that wouldn't pierce my skin even if I pushed really hard. It was so dull it was as if my skin was made of rubber. I think that one I had used for almost two weeks because I was visiting my sis and only brought one fucking needle.

How powerful was the microscope? The picture from the box the other guy is referring to might very well be from under an electron microscope which I doubt you used, unless you were taking your class at a major university and they let you use their several thousand, if not tens or hundreds of thousands, dollar piece of equipment for your presentation.
One use will indeed change the edge of a needle(or blade, or any other sharp/wedge tool) it's just that the change is so small that you will not ever notice it on a subjective level unless compounded quite a bit from subsequent uses.
As far as safe injection practices go, I know it is suggested you use a new needle every time but I do not know how necessary it is, from what I'm reading here I guess not very as long as you keep it clean and don't share.

I saw a bedroom of a Junkies place once, there were all these sweeps of blood splatter across the walls.
Clogged needles I was told, ah ha, 'Inside Information'
Jam, havn't seen him lately, did a writeup about the needles blunting.
Its got something to do with how the needle is inserted, like 'upside down' with the hole to the top or normal way.
Then theres how the needles pushed in, like once the tips broken the skin, the needles dropped/lifted as its pushed in.
And how its withdrawn, the dropped/lifted movement then.
He mentioned that if the holes to the bottom, & the needles dropped down as its pushed, it lifts up the very tip of the needle & that then rips the skin on the second use.
I don't use anyway.
