Tomorrow, i hunt!
So it seems like its coming up to that time of year again, yeah thats right shroom hunting season baby. Although its a bit early i need to see if there are any young ones and document where they are growing and come back later on for harvest.
I have, "Stamets - Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World" and here is a copy for you guys, as a little present from me
http://rapidshare.com/files/14481243...1996_.pdf.html
Like every year my main target is liberty caps, why you ask? well... they're everywhere! and they're stupidly potent!
How about you guys going hunting this year?

Yeah, i've found quite a few before; nothing too phenomenal however but grassy fields normally yield a couple of grams dry if you have a keen eye.

Re: Tomorrow, i hunt!
Any tips for would-be hunters other than the usual 'don't fucking eat the first thing you find' and 'do research first'?
Reading book now.

Well any free shrooms are phenomenal shrooms :)

Closely comparing/identifying the shrooms you find using the interweb or literature is really the most useful tip. Just don't eat them during the hunt. After you've collected a good amount go back home and start verifying what they are. Do this methodically and respectfully or you may end up being poisoned and (if your lucky) shitting out a lung.

Re: Tomorrow, i hunt!
well, im not much of a shroom hunter, but i am starting a little mycology "experiment" in my friends basement. Growing is actually pretty cheap and just requires you to be extra sterile.

There have been reports of people finding them down south. Not in large quantities mind, just a few of the early birds.

I found four medium sized libs and one solitary P. cyanescens in a field, i've never seen a P. cyanescens growing away from rotting wood either.....

Re: Tomorrow, i hunt!
I just went out in my backyard yesterday, and found 5 p. stuntzii. They were pretty few and far between, but now I know where to look for more in a week or two.
@OP I started reading that book you posted, and it seems like a pretty thorough book. Good Jorb!

Yeah, its a terrific book. Very helpful when you're out on a hunt and you are unsure of a mushroom.
