Default Segmentation Fault

I am currently having trouble getting Lugaru, some weird rabbit fighting game to work on my FC9 install.

I download and extract the file, then run the .run install through the terminal as root

The install goes fine. I start the game up, if I click any of the menu options the program immediately closes and the terminal says:

Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)

Is there anyway to fix this? Google only told me that the first line doesn't matter. I couldn't find anything about how to fix a segmentation fault.

Why are you running it as root?

It can't connect to the invocation of the X server. Probably permission issues because you're fucking with permissions.

Or it could be a bug in SDL. I can't really say.

I ran the install as root, using su -, so it wouldn't complain about file permissions.

I would expect there's an issue with connecting to the X server, so check that. You might just want to recompile with the -g flag, get a stack trace, and submit a bug report.

I'm sorry, I do not know how to do all of that. I'm still pretty new to linux, so could you please expand?

I didn't compile anything, I just downloaded a .run file and ran it. Maybe I don't really understand what compile means though.

Is the program free (as in freedom)?

A link to the site would help.

(Compile means translating high-level human-readable source code into machine-executable machine code.)

From what I can tell, that's a non-free program, so I can't help you.
