so on wikipedia it say that fentanyl has 81x the potency of morphine. my question is this: i know that people take morphine when they are in serious pain, and it helps a lot. so if fentanyl is that much more powerful than morphine, wouldnt it kill you? i know its released more slowly into the bloodstream, so maybe it has something to do with that? sorry if this sounds stupid but ive been wondering this for a while

If you take the same dosage of fentanyl, yes.

If you take 1/81th the dosage, no.

Yup.

Fentanyl is very potent, don't freebase it unless you have an extremely high tolerance. As in you are able to slam a couple of 80's in one shot.

Smoking fent is actually the easiest way to gauge dosing if you don't have much of a tolerance. Same thing with heroin now that I think of it...

But yeah, when I was pretty fucked in the head for a period a few years ago due to excessive benzo/tequila combinations, crack smoking and general debauchery, I got my hands on a box of five 50 mcg/hr patches from someone who didn't want 'em. No opiate tolerance; as in, 40 mg of OC would keep me high all night long.

Not sure how I didn't wind up dead but hey, whatever. At least I learned the benefits of smoking fent in a grungy attic as you spew what is basically water into a trashcan after having already disposed of everything in your stomach while playing Grand Theft Auto.
