Moving faster in combat
Greetings,
I have always vested much importance in keeping my fighting abilities in shape. I can fight hand-to-hand, with various melee weapons and firearms. I dare to say of myself that I am a warior. However there is something I always critized about myself. I move to slow. Lets say an oponent stands 20 feet away. There is no way I can suprise him with a flash attack since running up to him takes so goddamn long.
Anyone know of techniques/training that focusses on moving up fast? I want to become really fast. Like leeping that distance in a split second and immediately fight my oponent CQC.

Cross Country Club?
Why do you need to spring on opponets 20m away, oh Knight of Blacknes?

Re: Moving faster in combat
Dude, practice. If you can't close to critical range and then move in closer to killing range, what good is any hand to hand skill you may have. I've asked my teacher about this and his response, not to sound like a smartass was literally just to be faster, think it, and do it.

Re: Moving faster in combat
Weight training and running sprints can greatly improve your speed. However, no matter how much you train, you'll never run 2700 FPS
That said, 20 feet is escape distance. You should be moving away from your assailant, not towards him.

Re: Moving faster in combat
lol okay mr. "warrior" that wants to assault unsuspecting people, have you considered the implications of ANY of your actions, or do you just like sounding hxc on messageboards? Unless you go to a McDojo you should've been taught that your "skillz" are for self defense, or do you just take notes when you watch power rangers?

Re: Moving faster in combat
*sigh* Can't be helped.
I'm a slow runner, I admit. I like to stand and fight, not run away. As for all this self defence bullshit, I quit karate when my teacher said it can only use for self defence and should always run away. There's is no way in hell I'd run from any assaillant unless he has a gun or something. Which would make running away futile and I might as well fight.
What I was really looking for were leaping technique's. Thank you.

I remember reading a Leaping Kung training description in a Kung Fu book.
It was quite simple, a hole was dug and the trainee was to stand in the hole and jump out repeatedly until exhausted. Over time the hole was made slowly deeper and weight was added to the belt of the trainee. This is just from memory I don't remember the rates or anything.
Seems a good way to increase the distance you can travel with a running leap
