Default What's so special about a mac?

to me it looks like just an ordinary yet way overpriced pc/notebook.

Are you just so in love with your mac because it costs a shitload or what?

My experiences with one is limited from waaaay back when my aunt/cousins were the first in my family with a PC.

'Cause people are too retarded to work with Windows or Linux.

I used my first computer, a commodore 64 when I was about 5. In first grade, I used some IBM clone and had a hard time using it. In 2nd grade I used my first apple, a IIGS for playing games and typing things up and loved it. In third grade I used a powermac, not sure of the model 100% but I think it was a 6100. It had tons of cool games and programs.
I'm not going to go grade by grade, but I have a preference to macs because I remember PCs being hard to use and Macintoshes to be easy to use and after using them all through school until about the 6th grade, I used a PC again and didn't like it very much.

haha. Word, brother.
Wow, I've never used that phrase before. That was kinda fun.

Anyway, I use Mac because they don't run a sucky OS that freezes on me every 30 minutes. Also, OS X is INCREDIBLY efficient and handles everything I want to do quickly and effortlessly. Macs don't give me pop ups in the bottom right hand corner alerting me to EVERYTHING.

"You've unplugged a USB drive." I know that, idiot. I was the one who unplugged the thing.
"Your software needs updated." Oh, you couldn't do that for me? My mac can....
"Your anti-virus software is not turned on." That sucks. I don't even need anti-virus software on a mac.

So yeah. I had used Windows all my life. Then two years ago I got a mac. I'll never go back.

slicktommy said it better than I could - the OS runs waaay smoother than any version of Windows. I've had my macbook for about 2 or 3 months now - I've yet to force shut it down because it froze. People who use windows typically do this weekly.

Viruses pretty much don't exist for macs.

okay, I dont want this thread to be a windows VS mac thread but I've been using XP for the last 3 years now and never really had much problems (I did however have some problems with vista but meh)

but wouldnt you agree on me that it's kind of ridiculous to pay 1000 bucks more for a mac than its equivelant of a PC?

My Mac freezes way more often than it should. However, my Windows, in my memory, has never frozen. I've had problems with the hardware on it, but never any software problems.

But I do like the way Macs run things differently than Windows. It's smoother and a bit more seamless.

No. Because that PC doesn't run Mac OS X (natively). The hardware has been tailored for the OS. With Windows, you just hope the hardware is a good fit with the software. No (or very few) viruses, spyware, etc. I'm not forced to reformat & reinstall my OS every few months (reason for the Spore gripe). And other stuff.

It's not always about the hardware. Software plays a role too.

Peace.

You wont pay an extra 1000 for a mac than an equivalent PC. If you added in the cost of the software that comes with a Mac into the cost of a PC, would would end up paying more. iLife provides all mac users with good tools to to just about anything media related. To buy all of the PC equivalent software would cost a fortune. If you add it up, there is very little difference, and I am willing to pay that small difference to be able to use OS X
