Does my gun storage strike you as over protective?
Does my gun storage strike you as over protective?

I just welded this steel cadge to keep my gun cabinet and armor cabinet along with my welding supplies safe. The room it self has 2 steel, dead bolted, doors that I installed inside out and welded the pins to the hinges to make them impossible to kick in. I also have steel bars bolted to all the windows.
The out side of the room has motion activated lights, but those are more for safety than security.
I’m also thinking about putting canvas over the bars so if any one breaks in they won’t even know anything valuable is back there.
Does any one know where they sell Concertina wire at?

What is behind the plywood?
Also, smack the bars with a good-sized hammer to test the strength of the welds.

Seems under protective to me. Where are the claymores and attack dogs?

Re: Does my gun storage strike you as over protective?
It seems underprotective. Even if you're cage was wrought iron, give me like 10 minutes with a hacksaw, or maybe even heavy duty bolt cutters, and I think I could get through. But for children and your standard issue in-n-out burglar, it should work. If it worked like ballistic vests, I'd probably call it level II or maybe level IIIa without trauma plates.
I'm concluding that you can't stop determination without vigilance. With time and tools you can get through anything. That means flesh and blood on guard, all the time for maximum security.

If you were that worried about it, you'd probably not post photos of the cabinet all the fucking time... :P

Re: Does my gun storage strike you as over protective?
i do think a visual cover would drastically increase the effectivness of your security. if a person doesnt know whats behind the bars, he wouldnt bother to breach it if it were that sturdy.
if i were stealing from your house, i would try really hard to get to your guns if i knew they were there
edit: you could put shovels and garden tools there, maybe a bag of cow manure and a pot plant so it would look like a garden shed

Re: Does my gun storage strike you as over protective?
For real? That's bullshit.
I'd get in there within minutes, firstly make it sturdier, then put plywood over the bars so it looks like a wall, then it's NEAR something...
Here in Sweden we got laws that enforce using real weapon cabinets... You know, the fire safe, impossible to move, electronic alarmed ones...
