Cunning Linguists Languages and their use. What languages do you speak and why? What do words really mean? Can you say things in one language that you can't say in another? Should there be a national language? How many languages should a person know and what are they?

Default french translation of "the CD is skipping"

I don't know how to translate the skipping of a CD. You know, when a worn out CD 'skips' every 5 seconds making it annoying to listen to the music.

I'd use the word 'sauter' (to jump) or 'omettre' (to skip something as in skipping a class) but I'm not sure if this is the correct idiom.

If a fluent French speaker could help me with this; much appreciated!

I'm just gonna say "sauter" sounds right, but I really have no idea. I only took 3 years of French and my 3rd year was 2 years ago... so yeah.
