Default Could ecstacy 'balance out' my personality?

I'll keep this short. In the last 5 years I've been diagnosed with PTSD, depression and anxiety, and I've read that ecstacy has been used to try and treat all of the above.

I tried it for the first time a few days ago, just one hit...I'll avoid writing about the experience but since the experience I've noticed a huge boost in my mood, self-confidence and self-worth. Piror to the experience I was seriously considering intentionally ODing and I had intense feelings of jelousy, frustration and anger towards almost everyone, a lot of beating myself up and a feeling of hopelessness. Two days later all of those negative emotions are gone, I've had a few situations since then that normally would have pissed me off but I caught myself laughing instead. The thought of suicide hasn't crossed my mind and I've been feeling more empathatic towards others which really I didn't expect because normally I'm a cold, uncaring asshole.

If I had to rate my level of positivity from 1-10 I would have been a 1 before the experience, but during the experience I felt like a 10 and I feel understanding what it's like on the other side of the thought spectrum helped 'balance out' my personality. Is this going to taper off? I'm very satisfied right now and considering using it in moderation to try and continually become more positive and optomistic about life. I know it's early to judge but I think it has helped in ways conventional treatments could only dream of, they have been very unsuccessful in the past.

just dont become dependent on it. If you think you need to take MDMA or else life fuckin sucks, then id rethink your situation.

I mean your supposed to not do E that often anyways cuz of your seratonin

It might. IIRC, sub-recreational doses of MDMA were proving effective in mood therapy. Keep it low and you may be able to keep yourself happy without going full-on e-tarded.

Data on the long term therapeutic effects of MDMA is practically nonexistant. So you are venturing into a somewhat uncharted territory.

Maintaining a stable supply of quality MDMA is another concern to think about. If you wind up with meth-bombs you're liable to feel worse than before on the comedown.

I wouldnt reccomend it unless every other treatment option has already failed. In any case, you should relate this to your therapist (preferably your psychiatrist if you have one) and see what he thinks about your experience and after effects.

If you can i would suggest using this insight as a powerful tool in your therapy, but abstain from any further recreational drug use until you are in a more stable condition.

I wouldn't take ecstasy regularly, regardless of your mental issues. What you're feeling now is the afterglow. Enjoy it while it lasts, and you shouldn't need drugs to prevent you from killing yourself.

If you need to ingest a drug to be happy in life, you've got a serious problem only you could understand and deal with. MDMA is amazing, makes you feel confident and helps you feel warm towards others but it doesn't last forever and what comes up will come down. If you start abusing E, you will regret it later on. Just live life, man. You don't need E to feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I read is a book about human consciousness that people in this day and age have switched from internal, natural releases to external chemicals to alter oneself image. Not feeling relaxed? I don't have time to sit down, collect myself and breath in the air so I'll take an opiate instead, etc. Or the kids who claim they NEED pot really aggravate me.

Really? Thats dissapointing that this afterglow isn't going to last, I was surprised because most of what I've read said the days after are horrible and I thought I was onto something because these past few days have been very positive. I thought maybe because it was such an extreme perspective switch that I may be considered a special case because everyone else I know who takes it is already satisfied with life. Thanks for the responses.

Yup. You're a prime candidate for MDMA therapy, alright...

From the avaliable literature... no. You won't be rolling 24/7, obviously, but the reports from preexisting MDMA therapy suggest that a single use is pretty much enough to remove PTSD... which is enough to get rid of depression and anxiety.

That's... pretty standard for the course.

Generally speaking, there's usually no benefit (except perhaps getting high) from repeated use.

If you want to further a progressive recovery, LSD is probably what you're looking for. Dig through old memories painfully 'n such 'n sort shit out.

...as far as MDMA psychotherapy for PTSD goes, however... congratulations, and yes, you're probably going to stay like this more or less.

do ecstasy every day for around 6 months and youll be cured. now you may not be able to think but you wont be killin yourself

but really, it all depends, just roll and take what you learn and APPLY it. dont just feel great while on E, be nice when sober as well, if you are overly nice, then nice, positive people will eventually surround you.

Thanks, you seem to really know your stuff JoePedo. If this uplifted mood lasts I'll be dissapointed that laws prevented me from recieving this treatment sooner. I've already tried LSD because my personality has become so reflexive, I've read a lot of Leary and believe he was right how he said we form reflexive thought patterns to 'pull' reactions from others, I tended to pull sympathy or 'no impact', mostly no impact. I thought that a good trip could help shake that up and put things in a new perspective. I took 2 hits my first time and while my pupils were huge I didn't really trip at all, my friend who uses it more often was tripping pretty hard I have no idea what happened with that.

The second time I took 3 hits and didn't get anything powerful like I was expecting, words on the computer screen were moving around like they were on a boat and I could shift from positve-negative thoughts easily but that was it. I've read a lot about LSD and plan to try a higher dose in the near future, I was thinking 6-7 hits and am sure I can be in a very positive and supporting environment and trip with someone who is really experienced.

Honestly I thought I attained ego loss and had a more intense experience on ecstacy, I'm pretty sure what I got was the closest to pure that you can get around my area (guy is an underground DJ in Philly and has so many connects). Getting eyefucked while peaking was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had, it was so easy to follow the lights and let go, it was at that point my subvocals stopped and I was just living in the moment completely content with life...I thought an often unconscious goal or objective preceeds and drives subvocals, and I was so content and in such a euphoric state that my mind stopped coming up with a goal or objective to fuel them because there was no need to, it was such a peaceful state. I don't understand how it's schedule I.

^Best answer.^
unless you can guarantee that all the e you're taking is pure/ 100% MDMA, then continuing to use this (illegal) drug could potentially fuck you up way worse. Don't get me wrong, i love mdma and ill occasionally drop the random e pill but jeopardizing your sanity or will to survive is not worth it. have you tried marijuana? its not THAT illegal...

I am a HUGE MDMA enthusiast, and you will never meet anyone who shamelessly pushes the merits of ecstasy on others like i do. And your case sounds particular interesting and if i could be there to handle the counseling and observations part of this experiment, I would say MDMA could be a wonderful wonderful thing for you. but your gonna have a hard time finding anyone who actually is able and willing to help you with this in person, and ecstasy can take you to terrible terrible places if you let it. without a professional thizzologist to help you out your moving more towards the path of addiction then the road to recovery

I'm pretty sure mdma helped me out too. i got robbed at gunpoint and two of my friends got pistol whipped. everything on me was stolen, nothing really of value but anyways.
my mind was pretty chaotic for a week afterward thinking about what happened and i couldn't really concentrate on much. i did mdma a few nights later (not my first time) and the next day was fairly positive and i could think through alot of things. i could also sit and do nothing for as long as i wanted and never get bored. it was a weird state, not quite afterglow.
the next day i was back to where i was weeks before. i wasnt at the point of ptsd but it seems that mdma leveled me out for the long term, not just a week of afterglow.

i got a blood test that day too. i knew i had to go to the doctors but the doctor decided to give me a blood test on the spot because my resting heart rate was too high.

in my experience extacy can open many new doors and windows into self exploration of who you really are. but it can also have negative effects as well, keep this mind and remember moderation is the key to harm reduction. try and keep shit spaced out and balanced and you might have found a solution for trying to reconcile some of your passed experiences.

most of the therapy has been done with the person under the influence in the presence of a psychiatrist to help them through their problems...

oh and if you try to roll hard, dont expect to feel very good the next day.... first time i rolled the day after i wanted to drop kick the next 6 year old at the store who tried to get in my way....

That was NOT because of the MDMA. MDMA has virtually no come down, and actually more of an afterglow much like LSD. I am happy as fuck for up to three days after rolling. Then again I also make sure there is no meth present either.

And strik9, CCC are dangerous as fuck. They contain chlorphenamine maleate which will ruin your shit. If you want to do DXM, get pure DXM from one of the other hundreds of over the counter sources instead of being a lazy fuck and just stealing 5 packs of CCCs. Your body will thank you for it.

oh wow, you should NOT use ecstacy as a form of self medication, especially if you have depression problems

go read about what ecstacy does to your brain, it fucks your seratonin up. ive been down that road, after rolling maybe 40, 45 times in a two month period (taking 2-5 pills every time), i can safely say that it's made me feel worse... that was about 9 months ago, too.

if you really want to feel better, you should look into SSRI's... and if anyone else here says otherwise, FUCK OFF. i'm sick of hearing people say "oh, you shouldn't be dependent on some drug to make you feel normal" and then get high everyday and trip acid on the weekends.

But they do it to feel different, abnormal, not to feel normal. Especially on the acid count. Still you are right that self medicating with ecstasy is most likely a very bad idea. There is evidence that it can help certain mental problems, but you need to be very careful about what you are doing and you aren't supposed to be taking it everyday or even every week like you would an anti-depressant. Also most of this evidence revolves around it being used during a therapy session to get a patient to open up and talk more about the problems.
