| Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more! |

Spore
I've had spore for a day now and i'm not so sure about it to be honest. It seems as if it could have been so much better. The cell stage is too short, it needs more variation and much more time. Seems to me as if way too m uch time is put into the early stages of just eating shit and doing not much more else. I was also under hte impression you would be able to attack other people's civilisations. That would have made it so much better.
More to come.

Re: Spore
I just reached the 4th stage and I gotta say, even though the game is pretty fun, especially creating your own vehicles and buildings, it's rather disappointing and repetitive.
Stage 1: Bite living beings that are smaller than you, eat food, have sex (and recustomize your creature), run away from beings bigger than you, and repeat.
Stage 2: Kill animals that are smaller than you, eat, rest, have sex, repeat.
Stage 3: Get food, Sex and add as many creatures to your team as possible, go destroy enemy, add new small infrastructure (for the ability to hold axes or torches for example), repeat.
Stage 4: I just started, but it looks really cool since I can customize a lot of things, like every single building, vehicles etc...
Oh, and if you want to have your creature at maximum capacity in a certain aspect, like fighting for example, you're limited to using only certain parts that have the right stats to customize it.
As I said, it's fun, but repetitive.

Re: Spore
I thought it was pretty disappointing. It's like 5 minigames, and that's it.
The only thing I actually enjoyed were the civilization and tribal stages, and that's just cause they're dumbed down RTSs and I love RTS games.
Real RTS game with these customization features'd be heaven though.

Re: Spore
When I first heard about spore I was raving about it! Thought it would be the most amazing game of all time. Thought it would revolutionize gaming all together. The actually game compared to all its hype is utter crap. Its fun dont get me wrong, its just, to repetitive. Its like playing assassin's creed except ever time you want to use a really fucking cool ability you have to go save 100 citizens. (talking about the last stage here)
