I have an extremely bad anxiety issue and Im going to a doctor soon and i was wondering from people who have been through this, what they are going to prescribe to me. Im not depressed, Im not going to get an SSI drug. Do you think they are going to give me valium, xanax or klonopin or something else because I really would like to know.

Seriously, there are a lot of psychs (I'm assuming you're seeing a psych- if not you should be) who are very anti-anything-with-addictive-potential who will brag about the anxiolytic benefits of shit like SSRIs and/or anti-psychotics. It's disgusting how often you see Seroquel 25 mg TT PRN/anxiety for someone with little more than common excessive worrying.

There are so many variables going into this-- your appearance, demeanor, medical insurance, reading into the doctor...it's not like it's just "Hi I'm Bob and I have anxiety" followed by a roll of the dice with the hope of a benzo. Gotta plead your case, man. Put some brain muscle into it.

How old are you, anyways? Not that it really matters considering I had 120 counts of 10 mg Valium with Ativan 1 mg/3 a day for PRN at age 16. I had a crooked doc, though, and a lot of decent (smart) psychs won't send a young kid down the path of benzodiazepine dependency unless it's the only thing that will keep their entire life from falling apart.

Dude im not sure what they are going to give me. Ived tried the whole fucking ssi shit mixed with something to help GAD but i have like an extreme case man. Like Think about horrible fucking paranoia times 10. ITs not just that either. Its anger and its blowing up on people i shouldnt be blowing up on. Its hard to live my life without help. I cant go in crowds, i cant go anywhere man without thinking im going to get shot. literally. theres so much more too it.

Well if your M.O. is attaining effective treatment for a legitimate problem with a willingness to be honest and an indifference towards the meds, a doctor is going to know a hell of a lot more than me or anyone else here.

I got Xanax for just casually bringing up my mild symptoms of anxiety. I wasn't fishing for the script or anything I was just halfway into telling him about how I get stressed out with school work and relationships and get anxious.. just because i didn't really have anything to talk to him about. (I had lied and said i was depressed when I got caught w/ pills..) so he interrupted me and just said "you know, I would just perscribe a smidge of xanax" to my mom. i walked out with a gay script for .25's which were taken when i was caught snorting like 10 of them, and abused by my mom/stepdad, cuz I found the bottle when pillhunting at my house, and there were like two left, and she had refilled it when she just told me she was taking me off of it. so i dunno how many times she refilled it, I bet it just takes the edge off for her haha.. oh well.

Yah id rather not get xanax because i actually want to remember what i did the next day. Id rather get diazepam/ valium because i heard those workbetter anyway. atleast from my parents. they both have same problem when they were my age. Well im not really sure but i do thank you for the help and advice.
