feeling second best
my boyfriend or should i say, my ex-boyfriend, and i had been with each other for just over a year. He had always been into smoking weed socialby for as long as i can remember but just recently it's been getting a bit too much, it isn't just something he does socialby anymore. It got to the point where reguarly he would blow me off for a spliff and it just felt like he didn't care anymore. it's difficult because i still love him but i'm sick of constantly feeling secong best, so i gave him the choice.. weed or me?
did i do the right thing?

Re: feeling second best
Hmm, you say hes your ex-boyfriend, and yet you still try to manipulate him?
You sound like a controlling bitch. I hope he makes the right decision and picks the weed.

Re: feeling second best
You don't say whether you smoke too? Even if you do, feeling too far down on his list of importance wouldn't be any fun. Though if you don't that might make you less important to him. Some guys just like to spend a lot of time with their smoking buddies.
Are you giving him enough space, or is he taking the roomy space you give him & more? Oh well...life goes on & your chances of ending up like Lydia Purple are probably slim.

'a controlling bitch' entitled to your own opinion but you really have no idea.
i give him plenty of space.
if i didn't he probably would have left me a long time ago.

Re: feeling second best
Think you did the wrong thing by giving him ultimatum as your situation is such a classic one. Everyone I know who was going out with 'spliff boy' eventually tired of him and moved on. Ultimatum or no.

i was just determined to make him see it from my point of view, kind of open his eyes!

Don't bother, he's like that for a reason. Either he'll grow out of it or you'll grow out of him. Prob the latter.

Re: feeling second best
If you feel like it's time to walk away, then it's time. That's what an ultimatum says, it says that you're daring him to leave you.
It sounds like he's passionate about pot and it's a big part of his life; if you don't want to share it, then you should probably find someone else.

I think you did the right thing. It's a bit of a cliche', the ultimatum thing, but it really shows if he cares about you or not. Better off without someone like that.
