The Patty Melt
It seems this particular sandwich has fallen out of favor in these parts, but I still love 'em.
So I made myself a couple diner sized patty melts for lunch.
Too bad you can't find one around here anymore.

Re: The Patty Melt
Not long. The fries/frites took the longest, since I oven baked them (no deep fryer). The patties were quarter pounders, and the rye was toasted in my cast iron skillet while the burgers and onions cooked. Total, counting the potatoes (which I wasn't there for most of it) was about 35 minutes but actual prep/cook time was probably closer to 12-15 minutes.
It was worth it. Best lunch I've had in quite a while.

Re: The Patty Melt
The Canadian version is good, but I'd never heard of a patty melt before today.

Patty Melts fucking rule. Nice melty cheese, juicy sauteed onions, and a nice medium patty on rye toast. Mmmmhhhmmmm

It's not just a burger on toast. Patty melts generally have grilled or sauteed onions, Swiss, and come on rye. A very different flavor than your standard cheddar burger.

Re: The Patty Melt
Patty Melts f'in rule. They still don't compete with a "great" burger but they are neck and neck with Philly Cheese Steaks.
