Calling all Australian TOTSEers.. or anyone who knows jack about the place...

There's a study abroad program at my school that includes Australia. Now, when I think of that country, my mind sort of naturally curves towards the east and Sydney/Melbourne, not west. Having met a girl who did study abroad here in Sacramento from Ireland, I'm also damned disinclined towards trusting anything the school might have to say about the place- no one in their right mind would make their Great American Adventure a four-month stay in this city if they knew about it beforehand. It's just fortunate she was content with clubbing five nights a week.

But, of course, this is at Edith Cowan University in Perth. I'm not knocking the place; I can't rightfully do so, since I know zip about either the city or the college, even by random internet rumor. I'm just wondering if, were I to do this, I would end up being, like, goddamn, there's nothing interesting here and I should never have come (clubbing all the time is not my deal), or if there's stuff to see and do and explore that might keep someone entertained for a semester and not make them sigh about being so far away from the Opera House and quick jaunts to New Zealand.

My mind strays towards New South wales. I think that's just because bloodenangel lives there.

I am in Perth, it's isolated and quite a decent city considering I've been to all the other city's in Australia I'd say Perth is probably my most favorite!

They have the Swan River and the air race over it.

In case you were wondering, Edith Cowan was Australia's first female politician.

I don't know much about Perth since WA is the only state I haven't been to.
