Default My friend's weight is becoming a problem...

Yeah, so I've known this kid for about 10 years now. Best friends since the first grade and a great guy you can always count on. But now that we're 16, I've become a good-looking jock, and so have our circle of friends, while he's gone obese. He only really got huge this last year after his mom died, so before when he hung out with our group of friends, and we went to mack some girls at Applebee's, it was alright...but now he brings the whole thing down. He's fat so girls don't want to talk to him, so he just stands on the outside while we get our mack goin, but bringing the whole vibe downfor everyone because it's awkward.

So what should I do? I just can't deal with having this guy ruin our nnights at Applebee's because he can't control his weight. I don't want to hurt his feelings though by just coming out and telling him his obesity is ruining the group's social game...so I'm thinkin we just gradually "lose track" of him. I know it doesn't sound right but there's really nothin else that can be done. Unless someone here can give some tips.

This.

I have a lot of guy friends who are fat. Do I care? No. Why? Because I'm not fucking them. It's none of my business. Besides they usually have a personality which counters whatever fucking mythical beast they so happen to resemble. It sounds like you and your whole crew lack an interesting personality.

"OMG my friend is fat so I can't hit on women!" Shut the fuck up. You will only look better by comparison.

In conclusion, OP you sound like a shallow cunt who needs to stop basing his friends based on their appearance and instead on the content of their character.

The least you could do is get him to exercise with you or something, rather than dump him like that.
You're obviously not "best friends" if you're willing to ditch him for a couple of superficial sluts who only seem to care about looks, going on what you've said. Especially as his mother died. Some friend you'll turn out to be eh?

I mean honestly, if the girls you pick up are regulars at Applebee's of all places I don't think you have the right to bag on your friend's weight. They must be elephants.

You're a fucking faggot. You sound like some insecure anorexic teenage attention whore. Not wanting to hang out with a friend because he's fat? Wow just be a shallow fucking bastard. You sound like the kind of guy who's so concerned about his appearance that you are one of those pussy anorexic guys. Honestly, bros before hos. Never thought that would be a serious thought.

show that nigga some of the transformations from this page and explain why he should STOP BEING A FAT FUCK. Smack him around till he understands if you have to.

then hit the gym with him and turn his lard ass into somewhat of a decent human being. That way, your embarassment problem will disappear (superficial asshole) and he'll thank you for saving his health and increasing his appeal to chicks (and other humans in general).

do the right thing and help your fatass friend lose weight instead of ostracizing him, you fucking douchebag.

You sound like an asshole, but it doesn't have to be that way.

I'm trying to envision this, and this is what I'm seeing: You and your friends (minus the fat kid) are doing the average teenage jock thing- although, Applebee's? Seriously?- and the fat kid, seeing how the rest of you are well-toned with testosterone bubbling up to your eyeballs and girls... well, talking to you, at least, is made even more insecure than our incredibly superficial society would make any other obese person whose mother just passed away.

I know it's hard to see from his point of view because you have no experience with it, but try. He's not in a good way. He knows it. He feels bad about himself. Girls not wanting anything to do with him makes it worse. Being the cause of a negative vibe among the guys he's hanging out with makes it much, much worse. But the bad vibe isn't because of his body; it's because of the social incompetence he's falling into that's caused by how he (and, to him, everyone else) feels about his body. He has zero confidence, which it leaves him sitting in a corner, trying to avoid attention, which in turn draws attention to him and makes everything worse.

This obviously can't continue. Clearly you're not going to sacrifice your girl time for him, so either he has to stop hanging out with you, or things have to change drastically.

More than anything, you have to talk to him. If you quietly ditch him, then you're a sackless twat and I personally hope you end up living in a trailer with a toothless woman old enough to be your mom and quintuplet redneck brats screaming about what a terrible drunkard father you are. But if you talk to him, you two may end up agreeing that he should go another way. That may be for the best, especially if the girls you hit on are remarkably superficial and wouldn't appreciate even a fat guy with a terrific personality. That could end up worse, because he'd learn social skills, continually get laughed at, and then really wonder what he's doing wrong when it isn't him at all.

Or... you could take him under your wing. Tell him you're worried about his health, and you want to try to get him exercising. He doesn't have to end up shredded, but some measure of health is important regardless of anything else. Exercise is nearly guaranteed to build confidence, as well. (You could also offer to work out with him, then part ways and go mack your brains out without him. If he's game, he would probably appreciate that a lot as long as you like the idea and aren't treating him like a charity case. Then you get your awkwardness-free zone without dumping him completely out of your life.)

In addition to that, try to teach him some social basics. If you know some relatively nice girls, introduce him. You might even pull the girls aside and tell them you're trying to help him obtain a level of comfort talking to girls so he's not so awkward around them, so if they don't mind conversing with him for a while, or now and again, that would help a lot. In that way, you could help him at least hold his own, so that even if he doesn't go home with any of the girls, he's at least getting some measure of experience and not ruining anybody's day. And, eventually, if he learns some stuff, he probably will get laid.

If you make an honest effort and it just doesn't work, but he doesn't want to stop hanging out with you either, you might have to make the decision to not bring him along to your Applebee's outings. That's ok, it happens. But if you really feel like this guy is a good dude and doesn't deserve to get shat on, then you need to at least try. Otherwise you're just saying the words so you don't sound like a douche, but you don't really believe them, which makes you an even bigger douche.
