Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. We want to hear what YOU have to say, not what some constipated, impotent, dead guy dreamt up while suffering from the DT's over a hundred years ago thought.

Default Palin's teleprompter awesomeness

During her speech her teleprompter went out. She did good without it.

Considering the right wing thinktanks have been suggesting Obama would shrivel up and die without his beloved teleprompter, it is so fucking lucky that hers went out so that she could show how good she can do without it.

-----

I know many of you may think it was planned, may think her selection for the VP spot is just political postering, but coincidences do happen.

Surely you are aware that the McCain campaign is refusing to allow Palin to meet with or answer questions from the press. Maybe her training as a beauty contestant is the reason that she could speak on as the prompter malfunctioned. I would think that any politician could pull of that feat. Bill Clinton could do it very well also. But It is a lame reason to be impressed since any politician learns to wing it as a neccesity to public speaking. Having that ability does not mean that a politician is capable. And it seems that her handler's agree since they are keeping her from the press.

why should she answer questions from the press? if I were her I would just leave them to brown-nosing Obama like they have been doing for the past 2 years.

Do you work for the McCain Campaign. If not you should.

But maybe they are afraid the press will ask about her partisan attacks on Obama as McCain campaigns as and wants to be seen as a great bipartisan candidate.

How come every time a politician points out something that disqualifies an opponent in political races, it's 'partisanship' if it's from the party you don't like, and it's 'keen observation' or 'critical thinking' coming from your own party?

Oh yeah, hypocrisy. Can't forget about that...

Yea. Obviously McCain's hypocrisy. Thanks for pointing that out.

Read about Palin below.

Quote:
Excerpts: "So many people have asked me about what I know about Sarah Palin in the last 2 days that I decided to write something up . . .

"ABOUT SARAH PALIN

"I have known Sarah since 1992. . . . It is . . . almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She is savvy. She doesn't take positions; she just "puts things out there" and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit. . . . During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.

"During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased . . . expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years . . . taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. . . . She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

"She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn't even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later--to the delight of the lawyers involved! . . . While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once.

"She's not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren't generated by her or her staff. Ideas weren't evaluated on their merits, but on the basis of who proposed them. . . . People who fought her attempt to oust the Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.

"Sarah complained about the "old boy's club" when she first ran for Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of "old boys". Palin fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people, creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally grateful and fiercely loyal--loyal to the point of abusing their power to further her personal agenda

"She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in help. Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything publicly about her. . . . The State party leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a fiscal conservative. . . . Around Wasilla . . . call her "Sarah Barracuda" because of her unbridled ambition and predatory ruthlessness. . . . (T)here's a lot of people who have underestimated her and are regretting it.

"CLAIM VS FACT . . . *"Experienced": Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska. No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city administrator to run town of about 5,000. . . . *gutsy: absolutely! *open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at explaining actions. *"a Greenie": no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR. . . . *pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on residents *pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city government in Wasilla's history."

I find it questionable that any Dem would want to become president after the mess that Bush is leaving this country in. And Obama lost my support when he voted in the new FISA and gave immunity to the telecoms.

I find it amusing that the speech McCain gave is that the government is broken and he can fix it.

You would have to hold a gun to my son's head to force me to vote for either one of those slugs.

If government is broken as McCain says, and surely it is, then it will be a chore for those outside the position of someone that holds a public office to fix it. Call your congressman and ask him why he did or does anything and they act as if it is none of your business and it is an intrusion on their - paid to do nothing job - that you called.

But McCain is open about using war as a policy tool by the government. And his temper borders on a mental disease. ANd his POW status was with another war that was used as a policy tool that ultimately did more harm than good.

At present I am pro-no one and Anti- government.

I know that Iraq had nothing to do with 911.

And Woodward says that Bush failed to lead. As if that is not known.

"Fuck the Government" ------ That was the best part of the movie - Legends of the Fall
