Benzodiazepines and opiate withdrawal
How many days can you take them before you start getting dependant. I am detoxing off of opiates for good. My plan is to use valium and xanax for sleep and maybe a few beers at night.
I have been using methadone at 30-50mgs per day for the past month. i don't feel great toda((day 5)y but I have some bud so that helps. I am eating pretty good and i also have those nutritional drinks. I am on a multivitamin and flaxseed and fish oil.
How many days can I take the valium and xanax without developing withdrawals for those. I was thinking 4-7 days to be safe.
Can i expect a little bit less intense and lless engthy withdrawal period since I only took it a month?
my past with opiates is that i have be psyhically dependant before a few times. This is not my first detox and withdrawal but my first from methadone.

Re: Benzodiazepines and opiate withdrawal
You'll be able to take benzos for more than a week before developing physical addiction. Instead of just taking them to prevent WD effects from occurring, wait until they actually occur and then you can take them as needed. That way you limit the dependence on benzos and they are more effective.

Don't know too much about opiates, but I can definatley help you out with the benzos. Tolerance and withdrawal is exclusivley dependent on what benzo you are taking and for how long. Shorter acting benzos such as xanax/Ativan can show signs of dependence within a little over 2 weeks, while longer acting benzos such as valium and klonopin can take a bit longer and the withdrawal symptoms don't seem to be as severe(take that with a grain of sand), still probaly one of the worst in the drug world(Benzo withdrawal can kill you, unlike opiate/cocaine wd's).
Take happyhitters advice and just take them when you are feeling the withdrawals, not just in general if you know what I mean. You'll keep your tolerance lower and there is much less of a chance of dependence (just in case). Hope that helps...

Re: Benzodiazepines and opiate withdrawal
i have xanax and valium. 2mg and 10mg. I have been taking them mostly only at night to sleep. I do have a few beers though , I dont know if that adds to the gaba equation with the benzos and everything. i only plan to take them 1.5 wks tops.

Re: Benzodiazepines and opiate withdrawal
you'll be fine, and the beer's are a nice addition.
Just remember, you could be giving up one addiction (opiates) for 2 more (benzo's and booze) if your not smart.
You sound like you have the right idea, just stick to the plan and good luck.

Re: Benzodiazepines and opiate withdrawal
Salvia divinorum is not generally understood to be toxic or addictive. As a κ-opioid agonist, it may have potential as an analgesic and as a therapeutic tool for treating drug addictions.
hey why not...

Re: Benzodiazepines and opiate withdrawal

i dont know about that. i know that is is a kappa agonist and there are other types of salvia that are mu agonists. But salvia d can and usually will raise your blood pressure. I am 19 with a family history of high bp. I also have high bp as of now, partially because of the w/d and i have high bp anyway.
I will be updating on how my detox, withdrawal, and recovery process is going. Luckily I have my friends and loved ones to support me.
tonight is not the best I has restlessness, body aches, leg pains, and depression. I am smoking some cannabis and ahving a few beers and 20-30mgs of valium.
I understande that i could trade addictions but i do not like valium and other benzos ,the way opiates make me feel is just perfect. But i need to find other ways to enjoy life and feel good now(non drug ways)
Please feel free to leave any suggestions. Any support is greatly appreaciated.

I reccomend cannabis.
Because trading an opiate addiction for a "raging weed addiction" is a... very good trade, honestly.
Please feel free to leave any suggestions.
l-phen or l-tyr can reduce 'restless leg/body syndrome.' Everything else, you're on your own.
Other than that? Umm... good luck.
