I'm currently reading Snapshots; it's a book on worldwide tourism and it's pretty informative.

I'm finishing up Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies

Then I'm gonna break into Cormac Mcarthy's, Blood Meridian.

Great book.

I'm reading The Without Us by Alan Weisman. It's been an interesting read so far.

I tried searching that on Amazon.com but couldn't find anything relevant of that title. Link or publisher name?

Have you read "Bluelist" by Lonely Planet? It's similar to Snapshots by what you describe.

I'm reading Bluelist (06-07 edition) and Traveler's Tool Kit by Rob Sangster.

Mists of Avalon- because I'm gay.

But I'll probably re-read Giles Goat Boy again afterwards because it is the best fucking book ever. Super pretentious.

I've always wanted to read that.

I'm reading:
'It' by Stephen King (obviously, it sounds like a very popular book around this forum)
'The Vampire Lestat' by Anne Rice
'The Elements of Style' by Strunk and White (good read).

Currently reading David Barlow's Anxiety and its Disorders, as well as Kricher's The Neotropical Companion. Occasionally flipping through a little field guide to ecology.

Alas, no fiction, homework does not allow it

Collapse - Jared Diamond.
Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep? - Phillip K Dick.
Guards! Guards! - Terry Pratchett. Again It helps me relax when facing this current onslaught of work.

Chromatin and Gene Regulation: Molecular Mechanisms in Epigenetics - Turner.
Molecular Biology of Fungal Development - Osiewacz.

Those last ones are for class, not recreation. Just the knowledge that I have to read them makes them hard to get through. if I was reading them in my free time, it wouldn't be so bad. Especially the epigenetics one - an area of great interest.
I hate that.

1984 by George Orwell / This book will teach you more about human kind and civilization then any other book it pretty much explains what America is turning into

Animal farm by George Orwell /" All animals are equal but some animals are more equal then others" this is also a amazing book its a must read

World War Z by Max Brooks/ World War Z is great the book is based on Zombies start tacking over the world and the book is just a bunch of oral stories from survivors and how they survived the author of this book also wrote the zombie survival guide

He's okay. "The Mother Tongue" is entertaining, but about half of the "facts" he presents are utter bullshit. "Travels in Europe" is also entertaining, but there are certainly better travel books out there. He doesn't really interact with anybody, he just floats about Europe and makes shallow observations. Nonetheless, Bryson's books are always good for a nice light read.

Dracula is rather flat and badly formed, we're mainly reading it to gain historical context of the vampire genre. The Conquest of Gaul is actually pretty decent considering it was written two millenniums ago. Colossus is a great book, though it reads like a textbook -- kind of dry. I need to pick up a light novel sometime soon.
A lot of littluns feel this way when they first read Dracula. My ol' HS had Dracula as grade 9 (14 y o) reading, so maybe you just aren't quite at the point where you'd appreciate it? It's the use of it's construction that's really it's genius, you know. Well, that and Stoker's idea to unify many of the former Vampire myths into Vlad The Impaler. Those are really the two things which I believed set this book apart from others. Not my favourite, but a classic, certainly.

Dracula wasn't a great book, but it's one of the few that has actually made me scared while I was reading it. Mostly because that bastard can turn into mist and get into your house. And frankly, that concept scares the shit out of me.
