My mum likes my ex more...
...than my current gf. I dated my ex for 2 years, and been dating my current gf for 1 year. I want my mum to like her, but that's something you just can't force to happen. My brother has told me mum/dad likes my ex more than my current gf, and just today, said mum doesn't really like her. Close with my brother so he's not lying or anything. Its not like my current gf is a bitch to anyone in the family, she makes an effort, and has not done anything to piss them off, and my ex was kinda similar. I know at the end of the day, its about me and her but, this is really getting to me.
I don't want to confront my mum and DEFINITELY not telling my gf. What to do here...
Edit: FWIW I am 22

Re: My mum likes my ex more...
If she sees that you're serious about the relationship then she will respect your decision and make an effort with her.
Otherwise she is a cunt.

I guess it takes a few replies before I get a serious one. Anyone else had similar experience?

Re: My mum likes my ex more...
Awww. It's not uncommon that one's parents/friends can't see what you see in the one you're with. Partly it might just be that your mum doesn't like to change & get used to a new girl.
How often does one hear that parents don't get along/like their kid's partner? It's just not that rare. All she can do is be civil & polite when she interacts with your ma. No? Hopefully your mum will do the same in return. There isn't really anything that you can do, as it's between them how they interact.

Re: My mum likes my ex more...
I really wouldn't read too much into it. You're mum probably just doesn't like having to get used to a new girl (even though shes not that 'new').
In my experience parents are just apprehensive their little baby is going to get hurt, and are just worried about them, nothing more. It's never anything personal against their childs partner, unless of course they do have a legitimate reason for not liking them.
Luckily for me my parents keep their opinions to themselves until after me and my partners break up. Of course then I feel better after having a good bitch session to them about what a douche my ex was. Family bonding and all that jazz.

Why would it matter what your mum thinks? I think it's time you were weaned onto solid foods.

Whose holding the pants in this relationship bro, you or your mom?
As long as they can be polite to each other I don't see a problem.

Re: My mum likes my ex more...
Parents have this ideall what they want in life for their kid. Probably the ex fitted her views more.
Don't worry, she's datin you, not your mum

Re: My mum likes my ex more...
Just stayed with her for now, and when you do get married
in the future, make sure your family likes her.
Or things could get weird and shit.
For example; they don't like or talk to her much.
