Re: New Problem.
Well it depends upon the model of your wireless adaptor and popularity of the driver software it uses.
Is the adaptor built-in to the computer, or are you using a separate adaptor, and by adaptor I mean wireless card, dongle.. etc etc ?
Ubuntu may not support the wireless card that you use, and you might have to resort to a program called Ndiswrapper, which allows you to use windows drivers for your wireless card on Gnu/Linux.
I myself had the same problem, and it was hella difficult to get to work. I did however get it to work in the end though, with a lot of modifying and using the command line terminal a lot. Even after I had it working, some features were lacking, like certain encryption settings
So if you're new to Gnu/Linux and haven't used the command line and don't know how to make modifications to certain code, it's probably going to be very hard. But, you might find a guide that will guide you through the entire process, and end up being successful.
I have seen quite a few of these how-tos on ubuntu forums. So try typing in the make of your card, following with a few terms like "wireless", "ubuntu" , "linux" etc and see what comes up. I'm sure something will come up.
If you're still having problems, then post the model of your card.
