Stop and Search.
Over here in England we have something called "Stop and search."
Basically this means you can be stopped and searched for drugs/weapons etc.
I live in a small city near london and today I was walking down the street and these two guys approched me and a friend of mine.
They pulled out a badge and informed us they were going to search us.
They check your bag, your pocks, in your socks and in your waste band of your underware.
Right there in the middle of the street!
The only place they cannot search is in your shoe; however they can if you are searched indoors. Luckily I had a half gram of C in my shoe.
I'll be sitting in a group and police will come up and search us.
It's gotten this bad as of late.
If your under 18 and caught with weed, you'll be arrested, given a repremand and strip/cavity searched at the station.
What's it like over the pond?
Share your experiences, etc.
Interesting to know.

Re: Stop and Search.
Fuck that, man! The bacon over here at least needs a premise for searching your person or vehicle. The rules you guys have are kind of ass-backwards. They can check your undies, but not your shoes?
I always heard that english cops were cool about small amounts of bud and just gave you a slap on the wrist. Jesus fuck, that sucks man. Sounds like some kind of devious scheme to get the fingers of bobbies into underage anuses. :D

Re: Stop and Search.
They still have to have a damn good reason to search somebody here. Sorry to hear about that. Honestly, I think if they tried that here, we'd have a lot of dead cops.

Re: Stop and Search.
I whacked out my stop and search leaflet just for you. I quote:
Because of the Stephen Laurence report, an officer must fill in a form saying why you were stopped and give you a copy
Only a police officer can search you (not a community support officer) may search you.
You can only be stopped and searched if the police officer has good reason to suspect you are carrying:
- Drugs, weapons or stolen property; or
- Items which could be used to commit a crime, act of terrorism, or criminal damage.
This good reason should be based on facts, information or intelligence or could be because of the way you are behaving.
The exception to this is to do with terrorism, in which case the officer must say so.
They must tell you:
-That you must wait to be searched;
-What law they are using and your rights;
-Their name;
-The station they work at;
-Why they chose you;
-What they are looking for;
-That you have the right to be given a form straightaway showing details of the stop and search.

Re: Stop and Search.
Well the "good reason" part does sound like the equivilent of probable cause. I doubt cops in england get sued or confronted as much though.
