Brisingr
Paolini's new book, the sequel to Eldest and Eragon, comes out on September 20.
Did'ja guys like his last two books? Are you going to get this one?
I thought they were excellent books, since he apparently put a lot of backstory into it, what with developing a language for everything and all. At the same time, I have this feeling that he's trying to copy J.R.R. Tolkien...but I dunno.

Re: Brisingr
Even though he just put starwars 4-6 into the Lotr universe, I couldn't stop reading the first 2 and I've been waiting forever for the third installment.

Re: Brisingr
I'm really looking forward to the third book, and whilst I think he has taken a lot of inspiration from LOTR he hasn't done a half ass job, which is what makes the books so good.

Re: Brisingr
I'm looking forward for the new book, but only so that I can put an end to the story.
His previous books were alright, but I couldn't keep myself interested.
The plot was fantastic, but I think he needs to work on ways to keep the reader into the story.
But that's just my opinion.

Re: Brisingr
i see the similrities in the inheritance series and LOTR
i always thought the dragon side came more from anne mcaffrey
but, i do love these books, they're a fantastic read and he puts epic amounts of work into it, ive reserved a copy already.

Re: Brisingr
My mum actually just picked up Eragon at a jumble sale at some school, I didn't expect it to be very good before I saw this thread, but I may as well read it seeing as it's the only book I have at the moment.

Re: Brisingr
I read the first 2 books 1, 2, or 3 years ago(bad at gaging time). I don't care if he copied/took a lot of inspiration from other books, they were still very entertaining. I'll definitely read the third book.

Re: Brisingr
Short answer: No, not looking forward to it.
Long Answer: I tried reading the first book once but, 50 pages in, I just had to stop. It all rung too much of a bad fantasy roleplaying chat room being turned into a book somehow. I just found the characters and plot to be astoundingly shallow and without something tangible to really grab on. And then, being left with only the idea that it would be a fun read, I had to face the fact that I find these types of fun reads unconscionably boring. But I'm an extremist when reading. It's either extremely thought-provoking or extremely awesome and these books do neither for me. They just feel silly.
