Default A career in Law.

Sorry if this is a frequently discussed topic.

I am thinking about a career in Law. I am 21 and just entering my final year of university this September. I'm currently studying English and American Literature at a reputable university in the UK.

According to my research[1], I will need to first do a one year CPE diploma that effectively works as a conversion course that is the equivalent of Law degree; I will then enter the vocational stage where I must complete a one year LPC course; and, finally, I will need to do a two year training contract - effectively an apprenticeship in a law firm.

I will fund this with the aid of my parents, government grants (I have mild dyslexia, so may pull that string), and bank loans that are specifically set up for those pursuing a law career. Furthermore, when I enter the latter stages of my qualification I will obviously receive a salary.

My reasons for pursuing a law career are that I want to help people during difficult legal times; I want to have a vast knowledge of how my countries legal system works; I want to be reasonably well off so that I can support my future family, accommodate my habits, and enjoy my hobbies; and, I wish to have a respectable professional qualification that I can exploit.

My question for you, &T community, is does this look like a decent strategy for my future?

Also, if you have experience with any of the undermentioned, could you give me advice?

Thank you.

Nice. Thanks for that advice. I'll get that engraved on a wooden plack to be displayed in my office when I graduate as a solicitor.
