Getting wireless network password
I know how to do it with Windows but I don't know how to with Linux.
Can someone offer some advice? I would really appreciate it because I don't want to put XP on my new laptop (See my other thread to see what kind it is)
And no, I'm not going to do ha><ing peoplez networks and get their pazzzwordz yo!
I just need it to get onto my schools wireless network, you're supposed to register your computer and let them put monitoring and restriction software on it before they give you the password. There is no way in any universe that I am letting them so much as TOUCH my computer in any way, shape or form.
So any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Getting wireless network password
To be honest I don't really understand what you're asking...but to get wireless working on your laptop, it would depend up on the wireless adaptor. Is it built-in to the laptop? or are you using a separate adaptor?
If the the wireless adaptor is popular, then it might just be supported by Gnu/Linux. If it's not then you might have to use something like Ndiswrapper to load up the windows drivers in order to get your card working.
Now, if you meant hacking, then you should try a distribution called backtrack, it has all the tools needed for you to crack encryption, crack passphrases/keys, capture packets and all that good stuff.

If you have any more problems you might find this page helpful.
http://sectools.org/
It lists some good Linux wireless tools.

I think they'd have fun doing that under Linux.

Re: Getting wireless network password
Thats such a stupid system. Why not just give them your laptop and let them do whatever the fuck they want to it, you'll get the encryption key, store it somewhere safe, format laptop and reinstall things without their shitty software but you still have the encryption key. Easy.
Im surprised more people don't do that at your school.

Re: Getting wireless network password
Get vmware workstation, you can find it on some torrent site somewhere. Install XP on the virtual machine, fullscreen it and let them install the monitoring software on THAT, then delete the virtual machine if you have no other use for it.
Also before you wipe everything, rapidshare the software so we can have a look at it. Should be fun.
