It really does depend upon what you actually wonna do. You should take wargsm's last post very seriously and take his advice. Get a few books on Gnu/linux to aid your backtrack use.
You should also get a few books on networking and computer security. I can't stress enough, reading is very important, but understanding what you're reading is more important. Reading can only take your understanding so far, regardless of how many books you have access to. Experience is very important as well, because it will make your learning process more fun, enjoyable and you'll grasp things more quickly. You have a computer, so there's no reason not to just jump right in.
Regarding the use a program, just read the manual/documentation, seriously, how far do you think you'll get without these?..if you don't use these, you'll only be posting messages on forums asking how to use the software, then have to wait for a reply. Gosh it's so much easier if you just embrace reading.
Next make google your boyfriend, and use him when needed. In this case, he'll always be needed.
It wouldn't hurt to learn a programming language either, even if you don't have any interest in making any software. It doesn't matter, the knowledge of a programming language will have a such a big impact on how you view software/hardware. It'll make learning a breeze too.
Also, it's better not to ask questions on forums regarding how to use a certain hacking program, people won't take you seriously. If you're really having a difficult time with the use of a certain program, then ask the question more specifically, explain your set up, tell us what you already know regarding it and how far you have gotten, then explain what you want to accomplish...and you might just get a response.
