Default Add/adhd

So this is really starting to become a problem, I'm not sure if i actually have ADD or ADHD but i certainly cant concentrate for shit in class or on anything that doesn't interest me, this also leads to stress because my life is pretty 24/7 and i have a load of essays that i never prioritize.
I am thinking of asking my parents to go see a doctor or what ever the hell they send the mental kids to, i'll also be looking for a script of some sort, not for abuse or rec purposes because im pretty sure i do have at least ADD.

Do they drug test you before putting you on meds? What kinda script am i looking at for starting out? Anything else i should know?
I'm 17 by the way.

nope they dont drug test you before putting you on meds.

if they think you have legitimate add that effects your life badly you most likely get adderall because your a bit older (kids are more prone to getting ritalin/concerta, becuase its considered less mind-altering) and if they dont know about your drug use. i would say adderall probably, dexedrine if your really lucky and you kinda bullshit them saying it effects you very badly, or ritalin/concerta if they dont think you have much of a problem.

oh and if you have some other mental issues (tourettes, and others), strattera.

edit - maybe vyvanse, depending on your doctor (IIRC vyvanse is pretty much between adderall and ritalin)

If the doctor you see is anything like the ones around here you'll probably get adderall, like half the kids I know have a script for that stuff.

And I've never heard of them drug testing someone before they put them on meds for ADD.

I seriously doubt you have ADHD.

How long have you had trouble concentrating for? And I mean serious trouble focusing on things you really need to do, as well as trouble doing things you're actually interested in, without getting side tracked?

You don't just get ADHD at 17. Unless you've had serious trouble concentrating for the last 10 years, I really doubt it.

You're just a 17 year old lazy kid. Do some school work and stop bitching, and you DON'T need to see a doctor because you don't have ADHD, and you DON'T need the drugs.

That shit is over prescribed.

ITT more people who abuse prescription drugs put down people who feel they could actually use them for trying to "solve their problems with drugs".

If you fucking stoners were so good at dealing with your shit lives you wouldn't need to toke up every day in between amphetamine binges of your own. Hypocritical faggots.

I've had trouble focusing all my life, but now i actually realize when my mind wanders off and i have to concentrate heaps hard to keep it on track, which also makes me stress out.

I'm going to see a doctor anyway because WHO the fuck are you and WHAT the fuck do you know, nothing. Stfu.

It's pretty natural for 17 year olds to have trouble concentrating.

Blame the hormones, the pheromones and all that pot you smoke..

Still no reason why you can't try and get a script..

I know exactly how you feel and how easy it would be to just take some pills for it. but they will probably make you feel like shit. in my experience (with dexedrine) it just made me really tired and i didnt sleep at all and i didnt eat. yeah it was really good for the academics, but to me its not worth it if you have to be on it everyday. i felt like a zombie.

try it out though and let us know how it goes...

When I'm not too stoned or too busy planning my next amphetamine binge, I'm working with people who ACTUALLY have ADHD. I'm not going to go into all the details why, but I believe it's for his own benefit not to start taking any drugs that are usually prescribed for ADHD. Sure, this is a drug forum, if he wants to abuse a prescription, go for it.

But in the long run, he's better off without them.

Sure, go see a doctor. Tell him you're stressed and have trouble concentrating, I'm sure he'll give you something for it. I'm just telling you that you most likely do not have ADHD. Why would you want to label yourself with something like ADHD anyway. You're much better off just focusing on improving your concentration without drugs first. Consider your lifestyle, do some exercise, eat healthy etc.

I'm not telling you not to see a doctor and I'm not telling you not to abuse drugs if that's your choice. Do whatever you want, but someone trying to tell you that you probably don't have ADHD should come as a relief. It's a fucking mental disorder man. Harden up, not everyone needs these drugs to focus on their homework.

ADD and ADHD aren't real. Speaking as someone who was liberally fed Strattera and Adderall by their family doctor just because I didn't wanna pay attention in class, I'm rather bitter about it. ADD, ADHD, restless leg syndrome, and all that other shit are just symptoms of society's collective hypochondria, which has been exacerbated by the pharmaceutical industry's nearly criminal doping up of the gullible and weak.

YOU ARE NOT SICK, YOU ARE JUST ALIVE.
