McCain picks Sarah Palin for VP
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080829/...cvn_veepstakes
Well, daaaaaaaaaaaamn.
I never would have expected this to happen, and I kinda feel bad for Alaska, because in a government lhat has been so riddled with corrupt tools being taken out one by one by the FBI, she's done a damn fine job. If McCain gets elected, they're gonna get Sean Parnell instead, I think, and he's sort of a non-entity.
I suppose I could have seen it coming if I'd given McCain credit for the same kind of insight into shoring up his weaknesses that Obama showed. Sarah Palin is potentially the same historic figure (first woman VP), has a hardcore record for effective change that we can only pray Obama has if he gets elected, has a similar stage presence and despite her inexperience has established a new dominance in Alaskan politics, which is a forum known for old-boy long-term politicals (see comments about corruption)
That, and if McCain dies of cancer or old age, we get President Palin. Fucking win.
Unlike with Romney, I could actually vote for a McCain/Palin ticket and not feel dirty. I hope her record of antagonizing the big oil industry while being willing to open up ANWR is a sign that McCain doesn't intend to be the tool he comes off as in his pro off-shore drilling campaign ads.

This isn't about her stance on abortion. I happen to disagree with her on that, as I am, for the most part, pro-abortion.
Your cited reason had to do with the fact that she was a woman. This makes you a troll, IMO. If you want to make some valid points about something besides her gender, then by all means, let's have a go. Otherwise, fuck off.
As for what makes her qualified to be president if McCain dies, I'd say it's those bi-partisan leadership skills that she's shown by being willing to buck a corrupt party when necessary. And I have absolutely no illusions that the United States government in general, and the Republican Party in particular, is any less corrupted than the Alaskan government.

Now McCain can't say Obama has no Experience. This woman has less.
Biden is going to DESTROY her in a debate. Nobody wants to debate Biden... especially someone with little experience.... do they?
And as for her getting the woman vote because she is a woman they said that about Hillary and she lost, right?

Re: McCain picks Sarah Palin for VP
McCain is just trying to entice the Hillary supporters to vote for him by picking a VP running mate that is a cunt..... errr I mean woman.
Sorry but I couldn't resist.
But really McCain seems to be reacting to the Dems by picking a female as his VP running mate. Pretty transparent.
And she is standing next to McCain as I type this bragging that she stopped the bridge between Revillagigedo and Gravina islands nicknamed the bridge to nowhere - and also stating that if Alaska wants a bridge they will build it themselves. This is rather disengenuous seeing as how the $200 million of federal funds earmarked for that bridge is now part of the Alaska general fund and can be used for whatever. LOL hope the Dems don't use that bit of Republican financial coservatorship of public funds during the campaign. LULZ Beautiful.

Sarah Palin isn't running for president against Obama. Her qualifications versus his are irrelevant. As Vice President, she would be in a unique position to learn on the job, experience that's far more valuable than that of the Senate.
It's important to remember that as VP, the formal role they take is limited, and the informal part they play is what defines them.
If elected as Vice President, I hope she'll play a role that caters to her strongpoints, those being domestic energy relations. If she's as intelligent as she's come across while Alaska Governor, she'll use the time to learn as much as she can. She did well enough on her learning curve to go from Wasilla Mayor to the person that took on a very powerful member of her own party, and win, then take on the Big Three and win. She's got the skills, something I consider almost as valuable as actual experience, and I think she'll use her time wisely.

Biden isn't stupid enough to use Obama arguments against Palin because it will only undermine his running mate. As for actual debates, we'll see, won't we?

I don't recall saying anything about her getting the "woman vote". It may help, because there's always going to be idiots willing to elect someone solely because they're a woman, because they're black, because they're white, or what the fuck ever. Fortunately, I don't think that's the majority case. Instead, the majority seems to be rabid partisans.

It's better than Mitt Romney.
She'll probably bring in the MILF vote.

It matters because McCain could die at any minute he is 72 years old. She could be president at any moment. It's not a good choice. And when Pakistan is ready to Nuke somebody what's she gonna say? "Please Stop?"
