Methadone withdraw
I am having usual methadone sickness as well as extreme anxiety. I have read online and will assume since I have been on painpills for about 2 years straight now that the withdrawls will last about 3 weeks probably. I have only gone 8 days clean. I'm feeling better by the day a little bit but I am having a trouble concentrating and just want to do nothing but sleep it off. When I dont do anything the anxiety and shakes get worse.
Would it be okay to take 10-15 mgs of Loratab when needed like at night time to calm me down? I understand this will slow down the withdrawl process if I make it a habit.
One more thing, it's funny how when you get clean you see how many people are not your friend and love to talk shit about you. This is my #1 motivation for quitting. I've been here before, starring from the bottom of another huge mountain. I find it funny how
PS: I still feel like the zombie I was on dones, except for the first 4-6 hours of my last dose. I'm still feeling like a complete burnout. How long will this take to subside?

Re: Methadone withdraw
I feel ya man... methadone withdrawals are at least 3x as bad as opiates, imo. You were on a taper, right? So they shouldn't be too bad. However, DO NOT take even small doses of painkillers at all. Like you said, it makes the withdrawals longer, and makes it soooo much harder to quit. If you must, take muscle relaxers or maybe low-dose benzos. NO painkillers. I've kicked a few times myself and it's just so much harder. Also, my recovery times were much shorter the times I took low doses of painkillers while trying to quit.
edit- P.S. the burnout feeling depends alot on what kind of doses you were doing and how consistently. Last time I stopped, it was 1-2 months after my detox of no energy, no sleep, and a few other symptoms.

Don't take any opiates at all if you want to get the withdrawals over with. I suggest going to a local detox center/hospital and having a doctor or nurse supervise you.
How long were you on it for and what dose? I was on 180mg for only 8 mos. and I jumped cold turkey, never slipped up once, but was on my mother's couch for 3 months straight, couldn't eat, couldn't drink, couldn't move, felt like shit.
Went to the hospital 4 times within the 3 mos. for dehydration and other symptoms I could not handle. Got IV saline and who knows what else to rehydrate me, plus Catapres to help with blood pressure and Immodium for diharrea and all the normal stuff. I got through it, but then the cravings came back and I went the Suboxone route and feel 10x better than I EVER did on Methadone.
So my suggestions are, taper down to as low of a dose as you can (0mg if possible), go to a local detox center to be supervised OR while you're in withdrawals now, look for a Suboxone doctor because it would be the perfect time to switch. It gives you such more energy, no weight gain and helps work as an anti-depressant (At least for me), though that is you decision becase I tried staying clean from everything after complete Methadone withdrawal, but the cravings were WAY TOO STRONG, so I went on SUboxone to control that.
And one part bad news is, depending on the dose and length of time you were on Methadone, withdrawal can last for 2-3 months, some times 4 mos. before you even start getting clear headed again, and you get even more depressed as shit. It really does suck, so at least see someone about your decision!
Hope everything goes well!
Take care, good luck and be safe!
ONE.

Re: Methadone withdraw
Kinda odd. My withdraws seem to be a lot different than average, and yes I consider myself lucky. What I get is the sensation of all my muscles, especially in my legs, being contracted to the point of great discomfort, not really pain, but nothing I want to deal with for more than an a few hours, I'm real ansty; I rip all my clothes off because I can't stand the feeling of them on my skin. But most of this happens at night. I don't have any of the pneumonia-like symptoms or anything like the standard withdraw symptoms. And yes, I always taper down when I'm trying to get off methadone, which isn't often since I take it in very large dosages for pain Guess everyone's chemical different. And anyone trying to go cold turkey off of large amounts of opiates. You're plain stupid.
