last week i replaced a blown engine from a 2008 mazda speed 6.
it was a insurance job because engines with cold air intakes suck up water like a straw and as we know you cant compress a liquid, it tends to break many internal parts.

the lower end is shot, note the oil under the flywheel. but i think the top end and turbo are ok.
there is no core charge or anything its mine.so what would you guys if you were me??

Saw it in half, put a glass plate on it, and make a table. Seriously, you could pretty much buy a new engine since the internals are fucked and the bores could even be shit.

not bad, when i get some time iam going to tear it down and see just how fucked up it is.

that thing is small enough, I'd run a piece of nice wire through it and wear it as a necklace.

Sell as many parts as you can, unless you want to throw the engine into something else.

I wouldn't trust any part of it. Hydrolocking always fucks over the bottom end, and it likely suffered valvetrain damage. Water through the turbo probably fucked that up.

Build a coffee table.

Unless it was some ridiculous amount of water when the turbo was hauling ass I wouldn't think it would be damaged. Valvetrain damage? If the piston came loose and was thrown into an open valve, maybe. I don't see any other way for it to happen because the valves would have been closed when the rod or the crank gave way.

If anything the cylinder might need resleeving/boring out if it happened to get nicked. You never know, the main jounals and webbing might have gotton bent as well. Probably not, though, since the crank and rods will almost always break before a block.
