Default 94 Grand Am

Is it any good?

I might buy one very very soon (As in tonight) and I need to know, is it worth it?

We haven't arranged a price yet, but it has some body damage and it's missing some panels, and it has a salvage title. This means I can get it cheap. Real cheap.

I was going to do it up, and then sell it again for more than I bought it for, and hopefully make a fair bit of profit off of it. Any thoughts?

You wont make money off it. There isnt a huge market for ex-salvage cars, and you'll kill yourself when you realize how much work youd have to put in.

grand ams don't have much in value even if nice. But it might be an ok driver if you're looking for cheap transportation. I had a 93 2 door grand am with a 3300 and 3 speed auto (no overdrive) and it was by far the tuffest car i've ever owned. It was indestructible.

Im currently driving a 2 door 95 Grand AM SE.
Its not worth much at all but is a decent car to get you around. With body damage, missing panels and a salvage title i would not pay over 200-300 for it. those fuckin stupid plastic body pieces are stupidly expensive if you cannot find one in a junkyard.

If its got the V6 beware of tranny problems as it happened to my 93 and i have seen many Grand Am's in the junkyard due to blown trannys and almost all had the V6. Thankfully my tranny is doing fine with the 6 but i take good care of it.

If its a GT then forget it. Finding body panels for them in the junkyard is hard as fuck as years ago all the domestic ricers would put GT body parts on SE cars and then wreck them trying to street race.

If it runs good and does not look too bad and has no hidden structural damage than buy it for a few hundred bucks and drive it while you build or fix up a project car. But with a salvage title it probably has some frame damage or serious body damage that would cost more to fix than the car is worth.

Its cheap transport, but don't look to flipping it because it is, as already stated, going to be hard to make any sort or profit. It will be very reliable and fairly good on gas. Nothing much about them is spectacular unless you get the ultra rare Grand AM with a turbocharged LT3.

Its an Opel 2.0 with a Garrett. Really, really rare thing. It liked to blow head gaskets, but it was a real mean powerhouse back in the day.

I have a 98 Malibu (good body, some stains on the seats) that just needs an engine rebuild (3.1l) for $500. Is your deal much better than that?
