Default Laptop Busy LED

For some reason whenever I'm on Ubuntu on my laptop the busy LED is always flashing non stop and the laptops making that busy sound it makes when your installing programs or doing work on the computer. This all started when I connected a wire from the laptop to the TV to play videos. It never stops now. The lights always flashing.

Would this indicate that the Ext3 Filesystem is damaged? When the comps booting up the LED goes back to normal and if I run a different OS its fine its only when I start up Ubuntu it happens. Any idea what this could be?

I'm guessing you mean the disk access LED?

I'm sure there are programs that can tell you what's hitting your disk over time, but sorting the process list in gnome-system-monitor(1) by open file handles would probably help.

Weird all the processes on the list are sleeping. Theres definitely something going on though because it never stops flashing.

Sort it by CPU usage and see what's doing the most at the time of the spikes.
