Do they check bags?

How feasible would it be to smuggle 12 kilos of cocaine?(I'm a supr l337 drug baron btw), or alternatively...a small amount of weed?

I have taken greyhound a lot. I've been on a bus twice where they had a dog sniff all the bags before they put them under the bus. I've never had my carry on or personal bags checked, though.

Let me clarify a bit, it'll change the situation a bit I think.

I'm currently in a small town(25000 people or so) taking a greyhound to a big city(and by big I mean h0ge), I doubt the small town PD has dogs, what's the likelyhood of getting sniffed when I get to the city?

I don't think it's a regular practice. I've taken a greyhound probably somewhere close to 40 times, and this has only happened twice. I don't know if there was a specific reason for it, or if it's just a random thing they do.
