Are you addicted to weed?
I can honestly say I am. I've been smoking almost every day for a couple years. It's to the point where I inadvertently plan everything around when I smoke and where I smoke. And if I don't have it, I go fucking NUTS! I've been so lazy this summer and I don't feel like myself. I don't even really get the good high anymore, it's to the point where my tolerance has peaked.
So, because of this, I'm going to quit. I'm buying one last goodbye baggie, and then I'm done for a long time. At least until my tolerance is eliminated, and then I'll limit myself to once a week. I wanna get back to my old self - the motivated, energetic self that knew what to do when self was bored as fuck.
Are you addicted? Are you trying to quit?

I'm not addicted to weed cuz it's not addictive I also take Norco for my broken leg, but I'm not even addicted to that. My gf, on the other hand, is definitely addicted to painkillers. But weed, if you're addicted it's pretty much all in your head. IIRC weed isn't physically addictive like painkillers and nicotine, but you get psychologically addicted

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
S_W_I_M, Can you please not be so condescending? Thanks, d00d. It's not that I'm addicted to where I fiend and kill for it. I'm just used to the dopamine charge I get from using it at the same time, every day. So when that time comes along and I haven't smoked, my body is like "dude, wtf?! What's going on?!" and I'm like "you're right, omg I need a joint."
I mean, jesus, it's not like I'm addicted to smack. Relax.

My roommate is completely addicted to weed. I find it hilarious. He pays the weed bill before the food bill.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
Not really, I've only ever smoked weed like two times. The first time when smoking it i was just toking it in like crazy. Probably a bad move, what happened after that was..my knees started to go weak, my vision started to blur and i bloody thought i was going to die. I made it home and i was just laying on my mothers bed. My thoughts just started to race really quickly and i felt a very relaxed feeling.
My mother wasn't sure what was going on, as i was just laying there stoned out of my mind. She got worried and called the ambulance. They came and took me to the hospital. lol..I then just proceeded to lay on a hospital bed for about an hour or so. I get up afterwards feeling somewhat back to normal. The doc comes in and asked me, did you take anything?..lol i just says nah. I was feeling unwell, then i left the hospital. On that day i vowed i would never smoke it again.
Two weeks later, i was on this course and a few boys there offered me some weed, i figured meh why not?..didn't die last time. So i proceeded to smoke outside until it was all gone (this was just one spliff mind you, and so was the other one)...At first, i was feeling normal and quite well. I walk back into class and sit down, literally about two min later, the same fucking thing started to happen. lol i was thinking, oh no not again. So i just gets up and go to the bathroom. Then im sitting in the cubicle and dozed out with my thoughts racing. The teaching comes in and slams the door open and he like what's wrong?...I'm too fucked up to even respond. He says.. or you been taking something you had leftover from the weekend?...In my mind, im thinking, dude, this whole fucking place is infested with drug addicts and drug dealers. But i'm just smiling, so he then just tells me to go home.
Once i get outside, i was back to normal and walked home in the sunshine. I have never touched it since, and that was about two years ago :)
Although this hashish stuff sure looks beautiful.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
Nope. I used to smoke everyday but it was more a choice rather than this uncontrollable need or something.
I rarely smoke now, it didn't do much for me. Like I got high but it wasn't like the other stuff I was taking (obviously) so to me it wasn't worth it. Rather spend my money on the stuff I liked better.

Hash is SO much better than weed.
The way weed is grown, it can be too intense, like the effects you described. But if you got some nice hash you would love it, it's such a different high.

Ya, the overall effect was alright and the feeling of relaxation was pretty good.(which didn't last long).. But it seemed like I had to go through this terrible feeling of my legs totalling giving out and uncontrollable racing thoughts, before i get to the nice sensation. Afterwards, i figured fuck it, it's not worth it.
I have been looking into hashish lately, and it seems a lot of easterners smoke it and from what i saw it looks like a pretty stable drug.
See, the thing is..I still want to be able to function like normal, and not be totally fucked out my mind and not even being able to get up I still want to able to maintain a conversation with someone and still have a clear grab my thoughts. But i just want to feel extremely relaxed and calm whilst going about my daily life.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
I used to smoke everyday too. Made me sooo sleepy in the mornings. I mean I LOVE weed, it rules, for life. But until about 2 months ago I decided to take a break. I've been wanting to for a long time, and would always say "I'll take a break after this next bag.." -repeat-. It's definetly nice not having to chell out 40-50 bucks every week or two, and it's also nice being able to remember my dreams in the morning from the previous nights sleep.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
Before the summer holidays started I had more money and I could afford to smoke at least once a day. Now I have less money to spare and I smoke about 4 times a week. On days I don't have grade I may be bored and pissed off but that doesn't mean I'm addicted. I suffer no withdrawal, I just don't have much to do aside from get stoned.

addicted to weed???
you gotta be shittin me.
I typically smoke weed more than once everyday and have done so for years. occasionally I dont have money for it or simply cant find anything of the right quality and sure it sucks for a little bit. I want to get high but I dont need it. I dont get sick, I can still eat just fine, the only noticable difference is that I am not high; and sense I prefer to be high, it kinda sucks but even that goes away quickly.
sometimes I even break down and smoke a cig just for the sake of smoking somthing, honestly I feel the urge to inhale smoke is more addictive than the weed.

Weed is not addictive
I smoke it regularly, sometimes everyday by choice. During breaks, when I'm not out, I'm stoned 12 hours a day everyday. Doesn't matter tho since I get shit done with or without it, fools!

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
I'm about as addicted to weed as I am to the internet or videogames. That is, I enjoy it quite a bit, smoke a lot, usually every day. When I'm deprived of it, I miss it. If you smoke every day and then stop you will experience a sort of "withdrawal" though, while the levels of certain chemicals in your brain return to normal, but it's not too bad. Slightly reduced appetite, boredom and lack of interest in stuff that you usually find fun. One thing I've noticed is the unpleasant feelings are diminished greatly if I'm out doing something instead of sitting at home, probably because while I'm at home I'm usually doing things that I usually like to do baked, like playing video games or reading.
Sorry if I rambled a bit, I'm pretty high.

Sounds like it's time for a break. Take at least a month off and you'll be enjoying yourself again. Go back into it slowly. Maybe practice moderation this time.
I'm not "addicted to weed" but I do smoke daily. I take breaks every couple of months when I get like how OP described, because it's just not worth it when it's gotten to that point. You're always lazy and your head is always cloudy, the high sucks and doesn't last long anyway.
You'll be surprised how much better you will feel after a week or of not smoking. Even more surprised at what it's like when you take that first toke after your break.
Unfortunately I just started another break. Just lost my job and I'm thinking about going into the military. So this may be the longest break yet, heh. Today was day 1. Ugh....

Didn't really know hashish was popular in Europe. When ever I come across someone who smokes, it's normally always weed and skunk. Can't say I've ever seen anybody even use the term hash around here.

This is truth. I think the majority of pot smokers (excluding the ones who smoke to be 'cool')are fairly intelligent and pot makes life a better experience. At least for me I'm not sure if anyone agree's with me.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
Thanks for the replies. I see we have a lot of differing opinions in here. Let me clarify some things:
A) I am not addicted per se, as said before, I'm just used to the blast of dopamine and gratification I get from smoking at the same intervals every day for two years. Like someone above me described it perfectly, my head is cloudy and the high doesn't even last long.
B) It's not that I don't have a hobby. I'm very social and go out a lot, I even work out regularly. I'm on a specific diet where I have to eat a lot of calories. Smoking helps me get this done with ease. When I try to quit, I'll eat maybe once a day (forcing myself), I'm slightly agitated and less patient, and I can't sleep well at all.
C) All in all, the only reason I say I'm addicted is because I have those slight symptoms of withdraw. I get so fed up with them that I say fuck this, I'm buying an eighth.
How many of you guys have had those little withdraw symptoms I'm talking about?

Yes, that is normal. Calling it a withdrawal is insulting to people who actually have to deal with a real withdrawal like from opiates or benzos though. It isn't that bad if you keep yourself occupied. In theory chocolate might alleviate some of the symptoms, because it contains the neurotransmitter THC mimics, and you don't feel right because your body has gotten used to having the THC and has slowed down production of the other neurotransmitter. I don't remember the name of the neurotransmitter because I smoke too much pot.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
Shut up nigger i had to deal with benzo withdraw after a year of heavy use. those withdraws were nothing psychologically, but they were hell physically with horrible pains and twitching n what not, waking up just fucking covered in sweat after a horrible dream. After I quit them, I had no problem staying off of them. Weed has no physical effects, but i always seem to buy more weed when i probably shouldn't for various reasons(job, pisstest, need motivation to actually move my shit out of my house)....you can call it lack of self control, i call it lack of giving a fuck. I JUST DONT CARE. I'm sure coke is bad and all that, but once you see what it does to your family and stuff thats a good enough reason to never ever do it again.

I can see where you're coming from, but I'm not too worried about insulting an addict by loosely using the word "withdrawal." I say if they don't want to be offended by it, don't get addicted in the first place. No one's fault but their own.
In theory chocolate might alleviate some of the symptoms, because it contains the neurotransmitter THC mimics, and you don't feel right because your body has gotten used to having the THC and has slowed down production of the other neurotransmitter. Hmm, looks like I'll have to stock up on chocolate :)

If I'm not addicted to weed, I'm definitely trying to be. So far I've concluded that it doesn't work like that. Smoking a lot of weed all the time is not a guaranteed way to get addicted to it, I guess.

Re: Are you addicted to weed?
I find that when I smoke weed, I don't really do any other hobbies (not that it's detrimental. I doubt that me not playing WoW will hurt me). I think it's just that when I don't have weed, I find something else for me to do, like video games or something. When I start, I just stop doing that.
I'm not addicted to weed, per se, but I have an addictive personality. I gotta have something that I'm 'addicted' to, and usually it's a game or something, just now it's weed. I've stopped for months out of nowhere (well there was a reason, a job, but I mean it was from full use to dead stop) and not felt bad or anything. It's all in the mind.

I always smoke in a small group and we always roll with tobacco. Now I don't smoke cigarettes so I've found I have cravings for a spliff the same way I guess smokers have cravings.
Although I do go long periods of time without it occasionally, I always want it.

...yea, that just means youve never gone through a period where you smoke up 3-4 (weekends 5, if your hittin bowls you can get up to 6 sessions) in a day.
Its not just a habit you just wake up and you know you have to do it. At the same time, you are right in that after a week and a half you get out of that frame of mind.

Keep it up. It is amazing how much better you'll feel as time keeps going. Of course, as time keeps going it is also easy to convince yourself to go buy a gram sack for a quick smoke up since it's been so long. Don't let your pothead side trick your other side into messing things up. Do what you need to do and get shit done, then have a smoke at the end of it. It will be worth the wait.
