Try using gparted or some other software. I think the fat32 support in GNU/Linux is ok. It's not from Windows, but I think the file allocation table will be good enough on the drive.

I haven't played with Ruby. I really don't see the point. Some languages seem like toy languages after a while.

Uh, the fact that it's slow as fuck. Metasploit is a good example of a non-trivial Ruby program that is slow as fuck.

If you want a fast toy language, use OCaml.

Well, given that I work for me, I code in whatever language I like, provided it meets the client's spec.

As Prometheum said, Ruby is currently very slow compared to PHP etc..

Personally, I'd rather use my own development framework in PHP than Ruby with the Rails framework.

There's still far more existing code in PHP than Ruby, so I really don't see PHP going away.

If I were to move away from PHP, it'd probably be to C#.
