Default Birth control and 'spotting'

Okay, so I just started on Depo-Prevara (birth control in the form of a needle that lasts me three months) about a month and a half ago. The idea behind it is that I wont get any sort of period, but I was told I MIGHT get spotting once and a while (spotting being small amounts of blood, but not very much and very far between).

So the first month went well, no spotting whatsoever, it was great. No period, I was digging it.

Well about two weeks ago I got some spotting. Whatever, it was to be expected. The problem is I've been bleeding pretty constantly since then. Each day I get enough blood that I have to wear pads, even tampons occasionally.

So what the fuck can I do about this, it's not like I can just stop taking the birth control because it's an injection, it doesn't wear off till the beginning of September.

In like a week I have an appointment with my local health clinic but if there's anything I could do to stop bleeding from my cooch it'd be great.

My main question is, is this to be expected from this type of birth control or is something wrong? I mean, two weeks is a long time.

anything that stops the body from functioning properly can NOT be healthy for you. isn't yr period supposed to be a...cleansing function? sure, it might be annoying, but imagine eating but never shitting. ouch.

Lightbulb Re: Birth control and 'spotting'

Birth control drugs are screwy/unpredictable like that. On top of that, every girl is different so it's impossible to say what's up. You should still see a doctor but being so new (couple months is still pretty new for a prescription on your body) it might just take some time. Anyhow, hope everything goes alright with that. How much did that cost by the way?

Almost every girl I have ever met on birth control still has vaginal bleeding each month. I would talk with your healthcare provider as this form of birth control doesnt seem to be working for tou properly

Peace

Birth control drugs, as far as I know, have to be tailored to the body they are being used on.
Speak to your doctor next time and let 'em know what's going on. It could be just a dosage or specific drug mismatch.

I may just be talking out of my arse though...I'm a guy. But I hope it gives you something to think about...Or...Something.

$25 every three months, but I get mine no cost from a free health clinic. They give that shit out like candyy.

For the first week I thought it was normal and my body was just getting used to it, but I talked to some chicks who said bleeding for so long on Depo was fucked. Just so long as I'm not going to slowly bleed to death though I guess I'm fine until my appointment.
