phenibut
Has anyone ever heard of this. It was supposedly developed in russia and is like a synthetic gaba and also effects dopamine. It is a nootropic also. It is a legal supplement and promotes well being, anti anxiety, and sleep. has anyone had any experience with this. It is addictive and people have been known to start using it for ghb withdrawal and then get addicted to the phenibut. It is Beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid and is derived from the neurotransmitter GABA. Its effects have been described as being similar to something between ghb and valium and it effectivily treats anxiety in the short term. but tolerance developes rapidly. It is active in doses of 500mg bunt up to 2 grams per day is reccomended on the bottle with no more than 3 days.
":Phenibut is a GABAB receptor agonist, with slight activity at GABAA receptors. The pharmacological effects of phenibut are virtually identical to baclofen" wiki.
www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenibut
Beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid, better known as Phenibut or less commonly Fenibut or Phenybut, is a neuropsychotropic drug, derived from the neurotransmitter GABA that is capable of passing the blood-brain barrier. Phenibut is cited as a nootropic for its ability to improve neurological functions. It was discovered in Russia in the 1960's, and has since been used there to treat a wide range of ailments including anxiety and insomnia.
The name Phenibut, along with many of the other names for the compound, comes directly from the chemical name for the compound, beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid.
Structurally, phenibut is similar to baclofen and phenethylamine, although it is not considered a phenethylamine. Phenibut is a GABAB receptor agonist, with slight activity at GABAA receptors. The pharmacological effects of phenibut are virtually identical to baclofen.[citation needed]
Phenibut should be used with extreme caution as it can have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Side effects can include acute anxiety and insomnia that can last for up to two weeks afterwards. Withdrawal symptoms, however, are almost always associated with cessation after prolonged usage. Tolerance to phenibut can develop quite rapidly.[citation needed]
Phenibut should never be mixed with alcohol, sedatives or prescription medication without consulting with a healthcare professional.
Persons on MAO inhibitors or epilepsy medications like carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine should consult with their psychiatrist/physician prior to supplementation with phenibut. Clinical research has demonstrated that phenibut can potentate or inhibit the function of some epilepsy medications.[citation needed]

Re: phenibut
I have used it, at different doses and variable routs of administration.
I bough it as just something "to do".
To experience relatively safe head-states(Just Curious).
It fails at having recreational effects, its more of an annoying head-space then anything else. Being sober is better, in my opinion, not to mention the slight next day "hang over". I did mix it with 2 beers and found the effects better then either of the substances alone. But i felt a little bit "out of it" the next morning(only after 2 beers).
Also note that all the pleasurable effects of benzos, pertain to the select binding affinities to the subtypes of GABAA receptors, not particularly; to those associated with GABAB agonism.

Re: phenibut
I was retarded once and took wayyy too much because I misremember the dosage of the capsules. I became really high/happy/social for about 4 hours and then had the absolute worst hangover for the next two days. I ended up throwing the bottle away because it disgusted me just to look at it, let alone take more.
If you actually follow the directions, who knows, maybe you'll have a better experience than I have.
