I am sick of apps 'automagically' doing things for me and fucking things up.

Was downloading a big ass archive that was taking me ages, had about 45 minutes to go. Restarted x to fuck around with some shit. Started firefox to do some browsing...and noticed it had taken it upon itself to restart my download from scratch, so I can't use wget -c to resume it.

I hate it when apps make me feel like I'm windows.

Agreed. Yea this has happened to me a few times and is very annoying too. This is why you should probably use a better download manager which has the functionality to resume download. If firefox crashed and this happened, it's kinda fair. But c'mon restarting X, and expecting this not to happen? it's kinda lulzy.
