The numbers on American cigarettes
What do they mean? Always here Americans on here make reference to [insert brand here] [insert number here]'s.
I thought it might of been the length but i'm not sure as all cigarettes in Australia are exactly the same size aside from slims and super kings. Numbers here also just mean how many you get in a packet, this obviously doesn't work when someone is talking about "Camel 9's or 125's"

Re: The numbers on American cigarettes
If I recall correctly, it corresponds to the length in millimeters. Hence, a 125 would be 125mm, and a 72 would be 72mm (which were my length of choice when I still smoked cigarettes).

Re: The numbers on American cigarettes
It IS the length.
100s are... 100 millimeters, or 10 centimeters. Sometimes called "Longs" or "Extra Long"
72s are shorter cigarettes (72mm/7.2cm), been around for a while but are being pushed in the past few months by the manufacturer a lot. For a while they cost the same as Kings or 100s, but now they are cheaper
Kings are the 'normal' size of a cigarette. Either 84mm/8.4cm or 85mm/8.5cm. If a pack of cigarettes doesn't list a size, its usually King size.
Some brands however have numbers that are simply the NAME of the cigarette. Camel No. 9, Marlboro No. 27 (or whatever it is), etc etc.

Re: The numbers on American cigarettes
yeah the ones that dont correspond with length are Camel 9s (supposed to tase fruity, but they don't) and Marlboro 27s which are like... raisins and the smoke is a little... silky almost. They're not nearly as tasty as Dream and some others which are practically sugar coated (those bastards marketing to children) and the smoke is all thick and silky. Those sweet ones are terrible for all the time, while 27s are the choice of most of america's smoking youth. I suppose it's like, the batch number? the amount of times they changed it to make them perfect? Whatever perfect is, for cancer sticks.

"The choice of most of america's smoking youth"?
Yeah right man... yeah right... don't make up statistics, its lame.
What is this supposed to mean? All cigarettes of the same WIDTH are going to taste the same. Length doesn't change flavor.

Re: The numbers on American cigarettes
There is another number on the bottom of the box. This number (which the code varies by brand) tells the date they were packaged.
