Lidocaine Patch
I've been going to the physical therapist and my regular doctor...my regular doctor just prescribed me Lidocaine patches to go with the Vicodin I've been taking. Now my problem is these patches.
I don't feel any sort of relief from them, and they don't stick to my back very well. Sounds gross, but I figured my back was just oily after driving and my trip to the doctors the day I got them and that's why it didn't stick. But I applied one after my shower today and it still started to fall off.
Anyone use these, know a way to get them to stick better, or possibly work?

Re: Lidocaine Patch
You should probably just ask your pharmacist or call up a medicines helpline or something, i don't think many of the helpful cripples are on at the moment..

Re: Lidocaine Patch
Use some of that medical tape. You can get it almost anywhere for cheap.

Re: Lidocaine Patch
Lol @ "helpful cripples". Yeah, I was just hoping someone could relate or something. Cause I really wanted them to work and not have to spend money on Icy Hot patches since health insurance covers this...I don't understand why they can't be like Icy Hot patches with Lidocaine added. They would be so much better.
Thanks POC, didn't think of that. I'm going to pick up a roll tomorrow at CVS. I hope when I tape it, that it doesn't make a bubble in the middle or something. You know when you put on a band-aid sometimes and your finger is in a certain position and then when you move your finger it fucks up the band-aid...anyway best comparison I could think of. It's worth a shot though. Payday tomorrow so I'll be off to pick that up.

Re: Lidocaine Patch
If that don't work try calling your doc and telling him what's up; I'm sure you're not the first patient with this kind of problem.

Re: Lidocaine Patch
Yeah, use medical tape. Lidocaine does work well as long as you can keep it adhered to you.
If the tape falls off, you do have an oily back problem . Easily fixed, though, just call some Saudis and they'll take any excess you may have.

Re: Lidocaine Patch
Those things kick ass man, you just have to keep it held on for a good length of time, and if it keeps falling off anyway because of motion, tape it. They last 12 hours, and sometimes, especially if the pain is quite severe, it can take some time to do any good, I've had to wait four hours to feel, or rather, not feel anything. And make sure you don't use more than the patch recommends because you can fuck yourself up ODing on it, though it is quite hard.

Why in the hell would you tell him to get off lidocaine patches? Short of an epidural it's the best pain relief this man is going to get. Opiates are a fucking joke for real pain. A FUCKING JOKE GOD DAMN IT.
Sorry, not you, just frustrated with my own fucking pain. Fucking hydrocodone bullshit, fucking might as well give me some fucking naproxen and say suck it up. Fucking medical whores. And the thing is, not a single god damn person in my life understands just how fucking bad I hurt. Not only do I have to fucking suffer through it, but I have to do it alone, and with the constant fucking looks of "you are faking it"
lemme slice out most of your fucking ankle and see how fucking well YOU can push a god damn mower FUCK

My bad. He just said it was not working. He could tape it on and try it for longer and see if it starts to work. Sorry you have to be in so much pain man. I have never felt like that luckily.
I don't understand why anyone would think you are faking it when you prefer a lidocaine patch over opiates.

All opiates are garbage. Even morphine or heroin doesn't help, they just make me so fucked up I don't care as much, AS much. It's still frustrating as fuck, if not more so, hurting on opiates. I can't think straight, walk straight or form a coherent thought, and I still fucking hurt. Not to mention addictive potential.
Marijuana helps more than opiates, which still isn't much. Lidocaine patches are expensive because my insurance doesn't fucking cover them, and my doctor refuses to give me lidocaine solution for injection, so I just buy pure lido powder online and make my own solution, order needles etc, and do it myself. My doctor knows, but does not approve. Fuck her.
I don't need drugs though, I need god damn amputation, which they keep refusing, despite everything they've told me in the past.

Re: Lidocaine Patch
Thanks guys. I bought some tape, it's better but it's making a little bubble in the middle where my shoulder blade moves.
When I go to work that is the real killer, and I don't wanna be downing a ton of opiates cause then my stomach is going to be fucked up.
I completely get where you are coming from with the "no one believes" thing. Just because I don't bitch about it 24/7 or have this miserable look on my face doesn't mean I'm not in pain, I'm just trying to suck it up and do my job at work. I'm a cashier but that all too often includes carrying cases of soda and 24 packs of water, watermelons and other shit for 8 hours.
I'm a girl by the way :)

didnt you have a big thread about this awhile back??
and LCD, it may help if you have somebody else tape it for you, when its on your back its kinda hard to do yourself.
(if thats a possibility that is)
whats the pain from anyway?
