Why convert GBL into GHB?
I recently discovered GBL. At first I had trouble finding the suitable dosage, but after careful experimentation using a syringe to measure out the volume I managed to pinpoint the ideal amount for a night out: 1.8 ml initially, with booster doses of 0.7 ml every 45ish minutes to stay drunk. I also dilute my GBL with several glasses of cola so I won't have to taste that awful burned plastic-like smell.
Now, I'm wondering whether it's worth it to convert to GHB or not. Foodgrade NaOH costs money and as I understand it, the effects of GHB have a slower come-up than GBL, making it easier to misjudge your amount of intoxication which can possibly lead to passing out in public. I've read about this 'acidosis' theory which states that regular use of GBL lowers the PH value of your body to unhealthy levels, but I don't think I'll ever use GBL that often for it to be problem. Many people are addicted to GBL and take it 24 hrs a day without having experienced any serious problems. Besides, I think I've read a few bluelight threads where people claim to have debunked the theory.
Then there's the fact that GBL irritates your Esophagus and intestinal linings, but doesn't this effect get negated by diluting the GBL apropriately?
And finally, GBL can be ordered legally over the internet (at least in my country), supposedly to be used as an ingredient for making paint stripper. Converting to GHB (I believe) would look alot more suspicious to the authorities should the unthinkable ever happen and they discover my stash.
Personally I don't see the use of converting perfectly good GBL into GHB other than doing it for propgaganda reasons, as GHB sounds alot more familiar among the druggie crowd and more likely to win you 'respect' than GBL... as I know some people find that just as important as having a good time. Personally I welcome the fact that nobody tends to recognize the word 'GBL', as this makes it less likely for me to be branded a date rapist should rumours get out about my drug use.
What are your opinions?

Re: Why convert GBL into GHB?
Storage options maybe and for sales would be my guess. Its easier to store the powder for NaGHB than a bottle of GBL.

Re: Why convert GBL into GHB?
GBL is terrible for you. GHB, not so bad. And it's an extremely easy conversion.

What makes it so terrible compared to GHB? Is it because of the awful taste and its chemical composition?
Personally, I also found GBL a couple of weeks ago. I love it. SO cheap, yet the high is so strong. Actually im sippin on some right now...
im also curious as to why anyone would change it to GHB, ive only heard because of the taste.

Re: Why convert GBL into GHB?
Well, GBL is converted to GHB in your liver.
My understanding is that the conversion of GBL to GHB is tough on your liver, whereas taking just GHB is not as much an issue. Another thing to take into consideration is that GBL has a lower active dose, meaning easier to fuck up.
I've had both, and would never be able to tell the difference (in effect), and given that the conversion is so easy, it's just best to convert.
