Games People Play Games People Play is where to discuss personal computer, video game console, and arcade hardware and software - be it RPG, Sim, Strategy, Fighting, Action/Platform, or any other category. Although discussion of modern platforms/software will most likely dominate, discussion of classic videogame/computer hardware and software is always enjoyable, and certainly welcome - ESPECIALLY since there are public domain/shareware emulators of nearly every older computer/console available these days. Here's a taste of what awaits you: Nintendo-vs-Sega-vs-Sony, Console-vs-PC-vs-Mac, Hardware spec sheets/information, Industry news and discussion, Software reviews, IRC conference announcements/Reports, Emulators, Emulators, Emulators! ... and much, much more!

The first match was a blowout, but that second one was insane.

I do, actually. It's a fun game.

It's real buggy for me on PC, but it's one of the few games I still have for the Dreamcast. Fun stuff either way you play it.

It's Quake Live.

Even so, people do still play Quake 3 because it's deathmatch perfection. Probably the most skillful video game on the planet.

Whether or not you enjoyed it is one thing, but there level is skill is "special". I can guarantee in a game to a hundred frags both of those players would beat you 100 to -5 or so.

I dunno, I always find someone really good at a beat-em or j-shmup etc to be more skillful than an fps.

Yes, i'm sure they could beat me easily. Anyway it's just boring.

You've got to be kidding me right? A shmup? A game played against a computer that can be easily memorized with enough practice? And I know the exact ones you're talking about, with the ridiculous amount of bullets. That doesn't take true skill, that just takes pattern memorization.

Competing against a human who can do anything and will be entirely unpredictable takes a hundred times more skill than that crap.

The same way someone who likes Chess enjoys watching two top players play against eachother. If you don't like or understand the intricacies of the game it's not going to be very exciting, but if you're an avid Chess fan you'll be enthralled.

Now, I don't watch many of these, but I enjoy watching a high stakes game like this every once in a while. And that second match was really interesting to watch, especially when you consider the fact that Zero4 had only been beaten on it once before that.
