Why are you asking for tips, you're the one who's thought it was the right decision to get engaged, you should be aware of all the problems before making the decision.

Don't put a date on marriage just live together and work until you are settled enough to stick it out.

I honestly don't see a point to getting married before you own a house or are settled financially. Whats in it for either of you besides parading around telling people you are engaged. Also the problems if you were to split.

My best advice to you is this: If you have a problem you just can't resolve on your own, GO TO A COUNSELOR. My husband AND I have gone to counseling twice during our marriage and it's really helped both times.
