Default Yoga and pilates?

Just wondering what RI thinks of things like yoga and pilates to help with building strength and losing weight?

Would it be a good compliment to regular running?

I'm female, and quite weak (thanks to about a year of running without any strength training) so even bodyweight exercises will push me to failure quite quickly, and as a student I dont have alot of money for equipment.

Go to a Yoga class, don't learn from tapes or books or something. Go to a CLASS. You can't teach yourself that shit. Also might help to stop eating all the shit food you probably eat.

Why do you say that? I eat a bit more chocolate (and I prefer dusky or dark chocolate over milk) than I should, but other than that.. I dont drink, rarely eat any other junkfood, and my diet consists of mostly chicken, eggs, nuts, whole wheat buns and assorted vegetables.

Cut that occasional shit.

Everyone is always all 'aweee i need my cheat meal or ill die!'

Fuck that nigger, be a man and restrain yourself.

A good rule to go by is if people haven't been eating it for 100 years, don't eat it.

Even then :-/...

Thumbs up Re: Yoga and pilates?

In Yoga I'm pretty sure you don't lift any weights or anything so I don't think you would gain strength. In Pilates... Well I don't know what the fuck people do in Pilates lol.

I've been going to 24 Yoga classes (free with membership!) to improve my flexibility. Mainly for baseball and speed, but also to avoid injury.

Do you have access to a squat rack? As usual, I think you'd be better off just following the basic Starting Strength program, like everyone else. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
