As some of you may know the brand name Tylenol 3's have McNeil on one side and 3 on the other and Codeine is known as School Boy in some areas. Anyways, I got a bunch of them one day and decided to fuck with my buddies mind before meeting up. It was funny as hell and a great day but I have some concerns and questions about codeine, specifically the brand name McNeil T3's.

As you may remember from some of my earlier posts I have tried everything from ignorantly eating tylenol back in grade 9 to trying large IV doses of hydromorphone and morphine (many years later). I have only overdosed once and I am not sure it would have killed me even if I had not been rushed to hospital. In any event I decided to quit drugs like Hydromorphone while ahead and give up IV.

I still intend to keep using certain drugs now and than and do not see quitting the more powerful opiates or using needles as a loss as I thoroughly enjoy taking ones of weaker strength. The opiates that on occasion I will still use are Codeine and maybe on special occasions oral oxycodone. I would love to try hydrocodone and DHC but hydrocodone is not used in Canada I believe (Shame, I would trade 50 MG of Hydromorphone for 50mgs of hydrocodone :( ). Anyways, I love codeine. I find it is a very unique drug in that it has a VERY good rushy high that comes on quick and is subtle yet surprisingly powerful. The high unfortunately lasts about 1 hr and then I ge a nice chilled sensation but really that 1 hr high is amazing. This brings some initial questions to mind.

#1 ~ Why is the codeine high so damn good. If I understand correctly Codeine simply becomes morphine. Oral morphine sucks though. I know this is due to the bio availability (30 % oral for morphine VS 80 % for codeine) but codeine is not only more effective but feels distinctly different and far more euphoric. Anyways, how is it different from morphine in that the high is so much better (Not counting IV morphine of course).

#2 ~ Does tollerence build differently with Codeine than with other opiates? When I used other drugs like Hydromorphone and morphine I would need to bang over 12 mgs of Dilly to get a good high or eat over 50 mgs of oxycodone but 5 T3's would do me nicely (I don't mean the high is stronger but it produces more noticeable effects per amount of drug).

#3 ~ I find that I can never enjoy the full potential of Codeine. I am not sure if there is something with the McNeil Pills but this is what happens. If I take anymore than say 6 T3's I find I itch so bad that it burns and I may scratch till I bleed. I swell up and turn very red and it is almost as if I am having an allergic reaction. I realize the Opiates release histamines but even with large IV dosses of Dilly or Morphine the side effects are not as bad. The itch I had from 10 T3's was worse than even the most extreme Morphine Pins and Needles. WTF I know I am probably not allergic as these effects are either very mild or non existent with doses of 150 mg and bellow but I want to do like 250 but wont dare to after seeing what occurred after taking 10 pills. Does any one else suffer this with Codeine or is it just me? Would benedryl be my savior and allow me to do larger doses with less side effects?

Thanks but I doubt it. As stupid as it was I have eaten 20 perc 5's in about 7 hrs with no obvious ill effects. I am sure it is not the APAP.

I don't feel like addressing all your Q's, but I will tell you that many people suffer from severe histamine reactions on codeine. Yes it is a worse reaction than pretty much all other opiates. No there is not much to be done about it, although a moderate dose of benadryl ~30 minutes prior to ingestion will help.

Really though, although I got an ok high from my last script of T3's (I'm an ex-addict but now I only chip and my tolerance is down), even 300mg wasn't all that great compared to other shit. And the itching was brutal.

trading 50mg of hydromorphone for 50mg of hydrocodone is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

Believe me I know they are worlds apart. Money generally is not an issue for me though and dilly 8's never push 10 bucks here. I really just want to experience hydrocodone though as I have never had it. I would on joke swap an equal weight in any other opiate for it as I can basically get any other besides this elusive gem.
