so installed kaspersky 2009 the other day.

i scanned my whole computer and removed the 'trojans/virus'

now my internet doesn't work,

so i go into another OS system install on another harddrive, and incidently the internet works on that OS install.

so i install kaspersky on this one (i didnt know kaspersky was the culprit at the time).

after deleting a file something like win32 onLine games, the net doesn't work.

when i go into CMD and ipconfig,
i get:

Windows IP configuration
AN internal error occured: The request isnt supported.
Please contact Microsoft for further help.
Additional Information: Unable to query host name.

i know for sure the enternet adapter works.

maybe malware was encrypted into a critical TCP/IP file, and the antivirus program deleted that as well?

i can't repair the connection because of a TCP/IP error,
i also tried reinstalling (repair) windows on the same drive to no avail.
stilll the same buisness as before.

any ideas?

I would run a system restore. Let us know if that works.

i repair installed the windows 6 times yesterday (kept stuffing up during installation),
i had to keep waving my mouse around or else a black screen would show and it would just freeze.


still didnt work.

so i just formated the C drive, and now it works.

Were you using Gnu, this wouldn't have happened. There are no viruses active "in the wild" for Gnu.

I highly recommend you trying out a Gnu distribution, my personal favorite at the moment is gNewSense, but you should probably try out Ubuntu, as it has a slightly larger community.

You can download liveCD's (or request them shipped to you if you don't have bandwidth) or install CD's (the live CD can install, the install CD has more installation options, but no live environment) here.

Try it out, you have a lot of free disk space for a dual boot now!

Good advice for if this happens again (regardless of your operating system): store all your important docs/files/music/downloads on one hard drive or partition, install all your software on another hard drive, and run your OS from its own hard drive. Not only will this make backing up easier, but it will add fault tolerance and will increase speed.

i kind of do that already.

though, the programs and OS is on one drive,

movies, game iso's, and music is on another drive,

and all the programs that i need on a new install, like winrar, divx, codecs, graphics drivers, etc on another drive.


good idea though.
